Will forever be remembered as the player who opened the door and make it OK to sign for Saudi Arabia. Good for him, enjoy your blood money.

Guy with a betting scandal behind him, club with despicable owners, who's next .....

Hardly a betting scandal in fairness. Stupid but wasn't match fixing

Unreal signing for them. Can't believe they actually got it done so fast.

Those owners aren't messing around.

Just can't see us competing with them with those oil funds.

Yep they signed Trippier the same day we signed Coutihno.

I guess it was stupid from the perspective he got caught, but the real scandal is the fact that betting companies have managed to persuade the right people that there should be rules and punishments around people telling their mates that they're getting a new job.

Why though?

City got in before FFP.

PSG got some ridiculously inflated sponsorship from the Qatari government to the tune of almost £1b over five years, these owner-related sponsorships need to be looked at by the competition board in the premier league before going through. Newcastle are in a good place FFP-wise unfortunately (currently) but they can only spend within that the same as us, perhaps they'll blow their wad now to try and ensure survival but they won't be able to do this every window.

Perhaps they'll bribe the FA or what not and get some dodgy deals through. Perhaps they will say **** FFP and just go on a spree, not sure what the penalty is for this tbh. But the rules in place should prevent owner wealth being the only and deciding factor in a club's success, let's just hope it works as we already have 2 of the best sides in the world as play-things for rich oil states and I can't stomach another.

Exactly, our owners could spend the money but the rules prevent it, some think they are going to stick 10b in to it, nah.

No you're right they can't spend at Citys level back in those days.

But prepare for 80-100 M spend every single summer.

You can't say they won't become a massive threat

The difference is just how settled the current top 4 are / should be

Fortunately every now and then one of them slips in to being shit but they're so far out in front of everyone else the top 4 should be sewn up

And it takes more than just money, everyone has money, all 20 PL clubs could afford trippier if they wanted him
