Christian Benteke

Mandzukic is in Turin for his medical at Juve. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see Benteke go to Atletico as his replacement.

Would rather that than have him sign for another English team.

They'd have to break their transfer record.

No they are signing Vietto and the Porto striker Martinez.

Seems a lot more likely he'll be staying now, which I 'll be more than happy with.  A full season, injury-free, with an improved squad behind him and we could start to forget the last four years.

Why is it more likely he'll be staying?

Talksport saying Man Ure have made an enquiry about Benteke.

Bit of a non story from an unreliable source, mind.

Manchester United have enquired about Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.

Louis van Gaal is looking to improve his striking options next season, following the departure of loanee Radamel Falcao, who has moved to Chelsea, while Robin van Persie's future at Old Trafford is far from certain.

Liverpool and Tottenham were thought to be leading the race for the Belgian, but United have been monitoring the situation.

talkSPORT understands the Red Devils have been put off by the forward's £32.5million release clause, but that does not mean it would be impossible to do a deal.

The former Genk hitman is not United's No.1 target, and they are reluctant to meet the Midlanders' valuation, but would consider an offer should they drop the asking price.

Alternatively, Van Gaal could be tempted to trade in one or two of his fringe players in a cash plus player deal.

Liverpool looking elsewhere and not seeming inclined to offer more than £20m.  Falcao to Chelsea, Wenger seems happy with Giroud.  Really don't think Spurs will cough up enough either.

Just seem to be fewer links being made. (Apart from the Utd one ^^ - can't see that happening though).

May just be feeling optimistic today though...

situation where he wants better but no one is willing to offer the sum we want/stated looking like hes got a choice.run his contract down n leave for less next summer ( because we couldnt ask for the clause amount with a year left as risk of losing him for nothing ) or sign a contract renewal

That's fine by me, earn less wages if you want, Christian :thumb:

No doubt once the window closes he will be willing to negotiate a new contract.

SkySports doesn't even know his age...

The 28-year-old, who was signed by former boss Paul Lambert in a £7m deal from Genk, has scored 49 goals in 101 appearances since making his debut against Swansea in September 2012.
