El-Reacho
He's carefully worded so there's a fair amount of wiggle room there with the 'does not tally' bit.
samjp26
Although I think that Kendrick is our best journo, that article seems to be his opinions on the ongoings. I still think Belhanda is a long shot, if we really haven't bid then I'd be confused to why we would be mentioned in the first place.
villaglint
Kendrick generally gets the news when we are going to sign someone. The club tells him what they want him to know. In this instance it looks like they have told him that we have enquired but not bid. This way if we don't sign him we don't lose face. Could be entirely likely that we have bid and are waiting to see how player negotiations go before releasing any more news. That would seems to "tally" with how we have done our recent transfers (i.e. as under the radar as possible until its done)

Nothing new or surprising.
Popular Post Folski
Belhanda open to Villa move Younes Belhanda: Open to Aston Villa move Send to friend Print RSS Feed Younes Belhanda has reiterated that his first choice is to move to the Premier League following reports Aston Villa had made a bid for the Montpellier playmaker. Montpellier chairman Louis Nicollin claimed on Tuesday that Villa are one of five clubs to have made an offer for the Morocco international. AC Milan, city rivals Inter, Atletico Madrid and Galatasaray are also reported to have lodged bids in the region of €14million (£11.9m) for Belhanda. Arsenal and Tottenham have been linked with the 23-year-old in the past, but now Villa appear to have stepped in with an interest. Belhanda has been given permission by Montpellier to decide where he wants to go and he acknowledged that Villa are a club with a 'big history'. "I am definitely aware that there are five clubs with serious interest in me," said Belhanda. "The president told me how much I will cost for any team that wants me. "I have told everyone that England will be my first choice. "Aston Villa is a great club with a big history playing in the best league in the world, so let's see what will happen."
samjp26
Now we need to just hunt down the original source of the quotes to confirm. I'd say if he really has said that then this is way ahead of the 'marquee' signing rumours that didn't materialise previously.

They've apparently been interested for a few seasons but nothing came of it. Giroud says he has told him to come to the Prem.
El-Reacho
Perhaps he's not willing to compete with Wilshere, Ramsey, Cazorla etc. You fit that many playmakers into one side.

BOF Posted June 5, 2013 Moderator Share Posted June 5, 2013 Transfer Clockwatch @Transfer_Clock55m Belhanda is edging towards a move to Aston Villa as he'd like to play in the Premier League however Villa face competition from Inter Milan. Twitter guff but I thought it would get everyone suitably wound up Prefaced with the thought that I also agree it's guff. But it's interesting logic where Inter are competition for a player wanting Premier League football.

Spoony
If Belhanda actually said that, that is fantastic news. If we pull this off this is the sort of signing that might convince people like Benteke to stay
VillaRoy
Sign him up Lambo. Sort of signing to move us forward. That sounds like a clear come and get me plea. Nice to hear glowing words about the club from a very good player.
