Apparently beating Real Madrid for the signing of Valencia B striker Rafa Mir. 20 y.o with 15 in 19 for the B team

£1.5m fee. Some coup that.

the stepping stone being used rather than players changing from one B team to another and facing 3/4 years on loan, it'll be spun that he's picked wolves over madrid, in reality he's picked playing football knowing that madrid can buy him for £20m in 2 years time if he comes good, borja mayoral cant get much playing time there and madrid will buy at least 1 superstar striker in the summer

more players should do it

Have to remember all of the players brought in by Mendes are there to be sold with a profit (guess that goes for most players everywhere...)

But as soon as he finds a new club for them they will be moved on. Players like Costa and Neves will likely not play PL football for Wolves next season.

Wolves will get money for sure, but Mendes and his people will take a fair share of it.

But just replace them with the next batch?

Absolutely.

Will be brilliant for Mendes to have a PL club of his own to showcase his merchandise.

Went to the game with my Wolves mate last night. Chants of 'we're **** shit in the winter' as a dig at Bruce's comments had me in stitches :D:D

Funny

but it was also endorsed by a few of our fans too.

I think many of us had a bit of wishful thinking.....but with modern day pitches resembling billiard tables and willy warmers in the dug out.....

not much chance ,aye.

They will probably do pretty well in the premier league as well. This team seems capable of beating Swansea, West Brom, Stoke, Brighton, Huddersfield, etc.

Three of those teams will be relegated but there isn't a huge difference between bottom half of premier league and top 6 of championship.

2007/08: Man City lost 2 out of 10 games (20%) in December and January compared to 13 in 38 (34%) over the course of the season

2009/10: Man City lost 2 out of 9 games (22%) in December and January compared to 7 in 38 (18%) over the course of the season

Not sure it was true...

I meant more in just Man. City time and again failing to turn up away from home in those seasons.

Certainly Robinho was a player who seemed to score hatfuls at Eastlands but disappeared whenever they played an away game. I'm sure the stats would back me up on that one.

In 2007-08 Man City won just 4 premier league away games compared to 11 at home.

In 2008-09 with Robinho in the ranks they won two away games all season and lost twelve. We won 10 that season.

I'm not entirely sure how this is conducive to cold weather.

I mean, last season, Man City lost once at home, but 5 times away.  Spurs won 17 out of 19 at home, but only 9 away from home.  Leicester lost 5 games at home but 13 away.

Don't teams just generally perform better at home?  What's the link with a failing of foreigners in an English winter?  Maybe Jamie Vardy prefers the King Power in summer or something.

Well people expected them to struggle in winter as the foreign players would find it too cold

Still s ridiculous theory :D

I wouldn't say it's the weather people expected them to struggle with, even though this could a small affect. I think it's more to do with how quick the games come over the winter period without a break. Most of the players would've been used to a winter break, not playing, a vast amount of games over Christmas and New Year.

TBH I never thought Wolves would significantly falter in the winter months so I wasn't making that point, they're a team full of quality players and certainly in the championship whether it's 30 or -10 degrees it's not going to be a significant factor.

I wasn't directly linking it to the weather, more expanding the point where there have been highly fancied teams and players who tend to disappear away from home which is a similar thing e.g. unfamiliar conditions. One season at Man. United for example Berbatov was league top scorer with 20 odd goals but only about 4 of them came away from home.

Man. City were highly fancied in those seasons yet it was a very extreme case of not turning up away from home for their talent. They had a similar record that season to Stoke City who were newly promoted and had a very limited 11 and so prioritized their home form to stay up.

Them winning 2 out of 19 games with Kompany, De Jong, Robinho, Elano, Zabaleta etc is a little different to Spurs winning 9 away games.

This might help the understanding a little. ;)

Robinho is facing a major challenge to keep his place at Manchester City after angering his manager, Mark Hughes, with his increasingly erratic performances in the club's away matches.

City have not won on their travels in the Premier League since their second away game of the season at Sunderland and, according to informed sources, Robinho's poor form is regarded as a significant factor. Hughes is so disappointed, it has emerged, he is now giving consideration to dropping Robinho when Martin Petrov is fit again after five months out with a knee injury. Petrov has been cleared to step up his training after seeing a specialist, with a view to being available to challenge for Robinho's place on the left side of attack in the next two or three weeks.

Robinho's performance at Chelsea yesterday has attracted strong criticism but Hughes has suspected for some time that the Brazilian's displays indicate he is not fully committed to the club. Uppermost in his mind is that City, with only eight points away from home this season, still have to visit Arsenal, Everton, Manchester United and Tottenham.

Robinho has been described behind the scenes as a "passenger" and his future has been discussed at length in Manchester and Abu Dhabi. Although he has been outstanding at times in home matches, Hughes has become more and more exasperated by his inability to get through to a player who became the most expensive footballer in Britain when he signed for £32.5m last September.

Robbie Keane on his way back to Wolves apparently.

Would be kinda nice way for him to end his career with getting promoted at Wolves.

Wonder is they are keen on Lescott as well? Somehow I think not.

He's ruled it out.

I've got to be honest, when I first read that sentence I assumed you meant as a coach - hard to believe he's still playing.

He seemed to be knocking on a bit when he was here, how old is he?
