sne
Shame there is a readily available (for the right money), willing and probably suitable replacement in Xabi Alonso. Would have been great if they were forced to go hunt for a manager without a clear target and screwed that up.

They're not minnows, he hasn't taken Brentford to the top, he's done a brilliant job of managing a massive team with huge resources - they're not about to fall apart now he's leaving. Would that even be possible for any manager though? Realistically all you can do as a manager is out perform the wages/net spend league table for as long as possible. The days of bringing a team up from the lower leagues and turning them into a powerhouse are long gone (if they ever really existed?).

Of course not - money is the single most important factor in league position nowadays - he's done a terrific job, but the thread seems to be full of people who think this is the end for Liverpool, which simply won't be the case. Seems my sarcasm wasn't sarcastic enough. How about... He's a transfer legend. Making the Coutinho last this long is an incredible achievement. He's a football manager AND a wheeler dealer!

Huge challenge for the next name To be honest, I don't think they're going to come up with a better name than 'Liverpool'.

All makes sense now, he only signed the new contract with the Saudis to ensure they get sufficiently reimbursed when Liverpool come in for the manager who has worked so hard for them for at least 6 months now
