Is Daniel Craig a better Jimmy bond than Brosnan

He's a much better actor, but I don't enjoy any of Craig's Bond films as much as Goldeneye, and perhaps Tomorrow Never Dies.  Probably both done one great one, one utter shit one and two in the middle.

Yes, definitely. Bond, though, IS Sean Connery. Craig is a LONG way behind, in second. All others can be dumped into a deep ocean for all I care.

Brosnan's GoldenEye is the best Bond film ever.

Fact. No returns. Your Mom.

Never seen it, never will. Blind predjudice, I'll be the first to admit it. I've seen all the Connerys, several times. When Roger Moore took over, I was incensed - he wasn't Bond, he was the **** ing SAINT! I abandoned Bond movies completely at that point. When they started doing 'new' (i.e. non Ian Fleming) titles, it only increased my scorn. The publicity for the Craig Casino Royale persuaded me that it might be a return to classic early 60s style Bond, so I watched. It was... acceptable, but no more. I have seen one other Craig Bond, don't remember the title, the one that ends up with a big shootout in a Scottish mansion. It was shite. Back to the Connery DVDs.

I don't know how you go about measuring it. Is it the quality of the films (over which the lead actor doesn't really have that much control)? Is it how the performance measures up against some image of Bond in your head? From the books?

Brosnan will probably always 'be' Bond for me, simply because those were the films I saw first, so that's what Bond 'looked like'. I don't think he's a better actor than Daniel Craig, although I don't think there's all that much in it really.

Yep, same as @HanoiVillan for me. When I think of Bond, I think of Brosnan because he was Bond when I was growing up.

But I do think Craig is better. Casino Royale is one of the best Bonds ever, although it's gone very downhill since then.

Brosnan's later Bond films were dreadful. Die Another Day is laughably bad.

Official national or international days

ho makes them official? And who decides its national finish work at 4pm day? Or cat day? Or Jammie Dodger day?

seems to be becoming more and more popular

I don't think anyone makes them official, hence why there's so many.

It's just marketing. Run an ad campaign that says the 4th October is national pretzel day. Voila.

Shall we club together and sue all these organisations for claiming or inferring something is an official day when it is not? Probably say it's ruined our lives in some way.

Could certainly do with having a "national let villa win" day occasionally

I don't know, even us winning seems to infuriate a few people on here.

Precisely. This is why I'm a Connery man.

How do some people know so much about everything?

Now I don't mean knowing little facts or snippets, I mean those people who seem to know every facet and detail about everything that ever happened.

From 1970's Belgium politicians to the life cycles of deep sea molluscs to the ins and outs of the dawn of the Bolivian space programme to where modern patisserie techniques will evolve to by 2020?

Just stop it!

What makes it more perplexing/annoying is that normally the know it all type people are in their thirties or younger.

Its impressive in a way but nauseating and boring in another. Do they live reading wikipedia? Google attached to their brains?

I'm not saying don't educate yourself or be aware of what has happened/is happening or could happen in future in the world but sometimes, now and again, just please stfu because you sound like a nause.

I don't know exactly what you mean, but if you're like me (definitely not saying I know a lot!) - but if you're interested in something, then you go and research it.

So you love a movie, I go and check it's IMDB out, read as much as I can about it, it's cast, what they've done, bits of trivia etc.

At the minute for me, it's Ertl Thomas the Tank Engine toys, because my son plays with my own toys - so I got a list of the missing ones and have started buying them, finding out when they were made, when they stopped being made, and then I found myself looking for EVERYTHING to do with Thomas the **** Tank Engine

I know a little about a lot, but scratch my surface and I don't know anything

It's just interest I guess.

You know a lot about WWE or video games compared to me.

Kind of but not quite. Whatever I'm into at the time, I know a bit about and retain some information on things I've learned about in the past. I think that's normal, everyone does that. I'm talking about people who know everything about everything and always chime in with an almost authoritarian tone. You know the types I mean. I guess this could go in the TTPYOTS thread.

I went on a quiz night recently and did ok... my teammates all kept saying how well I did. The questions were wide ranging but I just knew a fair few of the answers. How? I don't know! I must just absorb snippets of otherwise useless information and trivia. I'm not saying I'm clever but its a knack i guess.

@Shropshire Lad posted about pub sign history recently... I read up a bit on it and its now in my brain and it'll stay there for a long time. When they became legal, what King was in charge at the time etc. I don't need to go back and check - its just stuck in there now for a future pub quiz.

I try not to chime in at work as a know it all :D

Just to be clear. I don't mean individual people knowing stuff about individual specialised things like Lapal and Thomas the Tank Engine or Xela's Pub signage . I mean one single person knowing it all in fine detail about what seems to be literally everything.
