Emile Heskey

He shouldn't be anywhere near the first team and especially the midfield.

Ireland, Bannan, Delph, Jenas, Clark and Gardner should all be ahead of him in midfield. He's not a bloody midfielder!

Upfront the likes of Wiemann and the Fonz should be ahead of him as well.

Basically he should count himself lucky to even be on the bench, yet McLeish starts him for some mad reason. It would have been better keeping Carew than this lump. At least he was a goal threat at times...

A shocking player who should just be given a free transfer!

agreed, why we bought him in the first place is a mystery

no mystery at all to be honest. We were playing gabby up front alone as Carew had a long term back injury. We were crying out for a big man to play alongside Gabby just to give us some options. Heskey was receiving excellent reviews at the time due to his england performances. We had a manager that had previously managed Heskey witnessing some of his best years at the start of his career.

It hasnt worked out, but surely you can understand the gamble.

Emile Heskey isn't really a midfielder, true. And to be honest, with his niggling injuries and recent form, I can completely understand why others would want Bannan, Ireland, etc to play instead of him, especially as he can look cumbersome in comparison.

However, some of the ridiculously hyperbolic comments on this threat are a bit embarrassing. Not only are they cliched, using Heskey as some sort of scapegoat for other problems in our team, but they show a complete lack of awareness of why countless professional football managers and countless professional players rate Heskey highly. To talk about him being out of position or out of form is fair enough. To talk about him as if he's a useless lump who has no qualities in a piss-taking fashion just makes some people look like idiots.

Let's put it this way - I don't care what anyone says, someone with his career and over 60 caps for England deserves a hell of a not more respect that he is getting on here.

Thought he played well again today apart from the odd terrible touch. Bored of the amount of unfair stick he gets from the same old people too. If a well liked player makes a bad touch it's fine, but if it's Heskey he's suddenley marked down as a 3/10 performance who was **** shit.

I'd rather we play someone else, but when he's in the team he always puts in 100% and isn't as bad as people make out.

Yet did nothing with it on the floor.

Apart from releasing Gabby down the wing for our equaliser.

Yes he probably shouldnt be starting, but yesterday he played well and to say he did nothing with it on the floor is wrong. He also made more passes than a very impressive and involved Agbonlahor.
