If in the summer you were offered 67 million plus Coutinho for Grealish would you have accepted it?

or, Buendia, Coutinho and £33m offered in exchange!

I would 100% have taken it.

Pretty crazy isn’t it? Club have done amazing business this year.

Yeah, i know we probably havent performed as expected, partly due to injuries etc etc, but.....

one player sold for 100m, total player sales in the summer totalled 115m ish.

Players in:

  • Buendia - 34m
  • Bailey - 29m
  • Digne - 27m
  • Ings - 25m
  • Chambers - free
  • Coutinho - Loan

Total outgoings - roughly £0m.

Hopefully the balanced spending/income this year will allow us a super summer of signings!

Football is a protected sport, every other sport has had issues with drugs. People cannot truly believe a premier league footballer has not failed a drug test. Barcelona with there high intensity football, Man City now. Players leaving the field not even out of breath or sweating. It's rife, but it would ruin the premier League if it came out, it would ruin football.

Have you ever met any professional footballers?

I used to live with a professional footballer for a few years and met many of them, I used to socialise with them...

This is why I wouldn't be surprised if it was coke. Obviously they aren't all on drugs, many are decent family people.

No i've not. But even so, I'm not sure how any of that relates to Grealish. The guy likes a drink, that much is obvious, most 26 year olds do. I don't understand why many on this foum are suddenly associating him with coke. There's nothing to suggest that, regardless of what other footballer have done in the past.

There is no evidence but shitfaced with a lollipop in your mouth isn’t a good sign.

But all that says is he likes a drink? Has nothing to do with cocaine. If anything I'd say the fact he has a lollipop would suggest he isn't on coke at all.

It stops you gurning chap, it also stops people noticing you've had a bit of charles. If you have ever had a lollypop while drunk, you'll know, it ain't best practice.

There was a great article by Jonathan Wilson about how Grealish and Sancho should have gone to the other side of town.

Playing for Utd, with no tactics, Grealish would be a super duper star now. He'd be motm every game.

He didn't want that. He wanted titles and medals and Pep. Enjoy it Jack.

I agree. He’d have dragged United into the top 4 as well, no doubts.

Pep still annoyed at not getting an invite to the night out?!? 😉

Poor Jack - he must be beside himself (or too busy deciding which bits in his girlfriends wardrobe he can get away with wearing out!)

oh for the days when I used to be able to fit into the Mrs underwear

I think there would be equal, probably more criticism in him joining Man Utd and not winning stuff. He might be more of a star there, earn similar money there, but I guess ultimately he wants to win things.

Wanting to win stuff is commendable.

Although as I and others have said plenty of times before, there is the sense there’s an ego/pride thing where he needs to be the star. Certainly not slightly towards the periphery like he currently seems to be. Winning the title at a canter, yep, great, tick that one off. But the thought could possibly cross his mind that he was kinda surplus to requirements and so it might cheapen it slightly.

I don’t know, only one person can answer that. I think if I won something as part of a team and I felt like I’d been not as contributory as I could have been, it would feel slightly hollow.

Unreal business when you put it like that. As much as I loved Jack, I probably would have been all for this exchange.

Funnily enough though, we'll likely still finish around 11th even with all that, so we can't discount his massive influence.

If I’m being brutally honest I would have said no at the time. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and look back and realise I would have been wrong but have answered based on how I felt back then.

It's relevant because it is rife in football, always has been.

This isn't suddenly as you put it, the stories have been circulating about him for years now.

Exactly, the signs are there. If you know, you know. Some don't know which is why they are horrified by the mere suggestion.

These guys are above the law (most of the time), companies, organisations, football clubs worth billions of pounds will protect them. Stories can be embargoed from going to press, there is literally so much we have no idea about.

Like the whistle blower said in the Independent article I linked earlier, drugs and in particular Coke are rife in football.
