And then you realise the premise also is ripe for cultural insensitivity and stereotyping It's going to be shite.
Mark Albrighton Posted June 7, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted June 7, 2022 My initial reaction is to be pleased that the title is not a variation of “Predator/Predators/The Predator”.
useless
T The Woman Who Ran (Hong Sang-soo) - slice of life, seventy minutes, enjoyed it.
Chindie Posted June 9, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted June 9, 2022 The problem when you start going down the roster of the DC and Marvel characters is you start to notice more and more how often they nicked concepts and ideas off each other. This film having Doctor Fate in it for instance, is just begging for the Doctor Strange comparisons. Otherwise, very bleh.

Mark Albrighton Posted June 9, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted June 9, 2022 Oooof, the reviews for the new Jurassic Park/World film do not make for pretty reading. Normally if I search for a new film, from the various reviews that pop up there’s normally at least one that on the face of it is moderately positive. Just from the sub heading of the review alone. The reviews that come up for me for Jurassic World Dominion are seemingly all negative. Whether it be dropping the film in the nearest tar pit or just letting the franchise go extinct. Rds1983 Posted June 9, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted June 9, 2022 Finally got around to watching Last Night in Soho. Very well acted and interesting idea, but a bit mehhh in the end. Somewhat ruined by a predictable and poor ending.
Ingram85
The Last Boy Scout 9/10, it’s gloriously cheesy. The best worst film (in my opinion). Edited June 9, 2022 by Ingram85

The ign review have it a 7, sounds like it preaches to the choir, if you're a big fan it does just about enough to see it through, if you're not then you'll probably see it for the bad film that it is I'm not sure if I am a fan anymore to be honest, I got a bit bored of the super new dino causing trouble before eventually the trex comes back and smashes him up I'll end up watching it eventually but I'm not in a rush

There's been one good Jurassic Park film, and it was the first one. Both Jurassic World films have been shite so I'm not surprised this one follows suit

They're dinosaurs, you don't need to invent genetically mutated dinosaurs. If you can't do what you want to do with a **** T Rex then what are you playing at? The first Jurassic World just had so much superfluous shit in it. The love story between Christ Pratt and BDH. Adds nothing. Those two kids who are in it and the whole story line about their parents' divorce. Literally has absolutely no bearing on the story. You could remove that entire story and it would be the same. They're just weird. The original JP is an absolutely brilliant movie. Everything since has been average at best
Chindie Posted June 10, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted June 10, 2022 Jurassic Park is the only 'classic' in the series. It's a simple film but it's done really well, and it was the perfect storm of coming just when CGI was good enough to do a decent job to fill in where the (brilliant) puppets and physical models could not work. 2 is a mess. 3 is silly but gets some of the charm of the first back. World is ok. It's daft, really daft, but knows what it is and it works. It's also got some fun subversive bits poking fun at corporate marketing. World 2 is dire. I can see a way that World 3 is decent, in a silly overblown way, but equally it looks like they've chucked so much shit in it that even if it's fundamentally decent it's going to be so stuffed with crap it'll collapse under its own weight.
Stevo985 Posted June 10, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted June 10, 2022 I watched the original a couple of weeks back. That scene where the jeeps first get stuck and we first encounter the T Rex is absolutely brilliant. The build up of tension plus the pay off is incredible
BleedClaretAndBlue
Jurassic Park is 10/10 classic for me, nothing will ever live up to it due to the nostalgia/awe of seeing dinosaurs for the first time like that, it was like we were living out what they were in the movie. When I was a kid I used to hate all the dialogue I just wanted to see the dinosaurs but the dialogue and storyline when watching it later in life is actually the best bit. This new one im simply just going to buy on blu ray as something fun to watch hungover on the sofa the day after a sesh
