I'm pretty sure Birmingham International Railway station sees less carriages per hour than Aston and Witton combined. Cross City Line the busiest railway line outside of London.

And I dearly hope The NEC are kind enough not to put on eg Crufts or Spring Fair or any major pop concerts when we're playing at home because the carnage people see at Villa Park now would be nothing in comparison.

Outside of match days Aston and Witton wouldn't be that busy, trains may pass straight through. Birmingham International feeds the NEC and the airport and is on the mainline to London, there's a few platforms there.

Once HS2 and the metroline is complete it will be well served, even got an airport. Its unrivalled within the UK or will be .

Cross City line is 5 tph all day and night (and will eventually return to 6tph.

I think Witton is 2 tph but due to get more services soon.

That's minimum 7 probably up to 10 trains ph leaving Villa Park vicinity.

And the new Cross City line trains have a BIG increase in capacity.  They'll ferry far more passangers than the Cross Country and Voyagers that will call at Birmingham International

The HS2 interchange will serve 10 trams per hour each with a capacity of 210 people. That wouldn't even help with the additional capacity on top of 42k, let alone the whole lot.

If there was entertainment in the area, shopping, cafes, resteraunts, cinemas , bowling alleys, casinos......then hopefully people wouldn't all want to turn up 10 minutes before the match and leave straight after the final whistle. Which is what I do at the moment.

The Mrs could even come along and spend a couple of hours browsing the shops while I'm watching villa cement their place at the top of the premier league!

That’s how the Villa becomes too expensive, by letting the Mrs go shopping while your at the game 😂

Yeah, if the new trains do what they say (and I'll believe it when I see it) then it'll make the Cross City line far and away the best transport facility in the Midlands. I just hope they really are that good....

I've always had problems at International. There may be a few platforms, but the intercity trains still often seem to get jumbled up with the local trains and all sorts of delays end up happening.

NSWE were gunna drop the best part of $1billion on a Las Vegas expansion team so if the business case and site were there for a new stadium I’m sure they’d have explored it. As others have recently pointed out we aren’t maximising what we have in terms in essence rinsing fans, so I can only see a new stadium being thought about once every last penny has been squeezed from fans and there is no further room for growth. Currently there is huge room to grow revenue at and from Villa Park rather than spend a £1billion on something new and shiny. Modern football is about £££ and not history and heritage so that will always be the driver.

There are twenty minute gaps though in the timetable so that's where bottlenecks at Aston station build up if you miss the trains just after 5pm.

International station currently has trains to Shrewsbury/Aberystwyth, Bournemouth/Manchester, Rugeley/Walsall and the other local stoppers and one every ten minutes to London (8-11 carriages).

Add in the HS2 station in just under a decade and that will be a ridiculously well served couple of miles.

I think if that was a serious possibility then you'd find a site roughly halfway between the existing international station and the new one the other side of the M42. Pretty sure there are plans for a rapid transit line to link the two as you currently have with the Airport being linked to the station with the monorail.

So you've potentiall got all that....and still 40k will probably want to come by Car.😂 Midlands mentality right there.

The Midlands does have a 'car first' mentality but I think it's important to remember we're not a different species to Londoners, the difference between our mentality and theirs is largely a consequence of patterns of historical development and poor public transport links. I drive from Stourbridge to VP now, despite living near Stourbridge Junction, because despite everything it's still faster. That difference would only get more pronounced if we moved halfway to Coventry. If the Midland conurbation were far denser and had an S-Bahn style underground it might be a different story, but as they say about my aunty . . .

Also don't forget that on top of poor transport service and not every town having access to stations, many of us have other reasons to drive - disabilities or elderly or very young.

Blaming the population of the Midlands for their "car first" attitude is a bit unfair when, as you say, there isn't really any choice in the matter for many.

I use public transport or walking whenever I can, and would love not to use the car, but certain things, like travelling to the football, it can't really be avoided for me.

Same here, no way I can hang around for public transport after night games with my 2 lads. It's a bolt back to the car at Power League for a quick get away. If I had to get public transport back from this mythical city centre location I'd stop going I'm afraid.

How much would it cost for the club to buy this land ? A potential spot for new stadium, parking and community facilities.

Not sure why you are asking, it is no where near big enough to put the desired stadium.

If you really want to keep the ground in that crap hole area then the question should be how much would it cost to buy the required land on holford park.

It is the wider industrial area. Long term it could be a better location for a new stadium/dedicated women's stadium/ -  V Sports campus/Villa Live with facilities?  A major regeneration of Aston with the club at the heart of it. In between Aston and Witton station too. If we are going to move ground at least go big and not far 🤣

I’d rather go into the city centre inside the ring road, I hate where we are and it solves all the transport issues

I’d hate to go into the city centre and I’m not sure it solves the parking issues because the choice would just be incredibly expensive city car parks.  I don’t want to be in the city centre late at night with elderly and young family members and use a bus or train for safety reasons.

We already own a good chunk of that land - that thing at the top is our academy.
