  1. Bless you mate. I was lucky, my dad used to think I was his brother (who'd died years before), so I figure at least he was seeing a familiar face rather than thinking I was a total stranger in his house
  2. I lost my dad to this horrible disease. My thoughts go out to him and his family and friends. And what a bloody player!
  3. Same here, no way I can hang around for public transport after night games with my 2 lads. It's a bolt back to the car at Power League for a quick get away. If I had to get public transport back from this mythical city centre location I'd stop going I'm afraid.
  4. There's a nice Big Ron interview on the Villa YouTube channel, focusing on the 94 League Cup. I hope I'm as sharp as him if I make it to his age.
  5. Buzzing for a 3 o'clock Saturday home game. Really excited for this. Forest don't offend me, I hope they stay up, but obviously want us to give them a good hiding today. I think the key is us scoring early. You'd think they'll be looking to sit deep and hit us on the break, we struggle with breaking that low block, especially later on in games. If we score first they'll have to play on the front foot more, which will suit us I think. Don't want it to be 0-0 after an hour, and we definitely don't want to be chasing an equaliser, they have the pace to exploit us.
  6. Same age as my lad was for his first game. Hope he has a brilliant day, fingers crossed the lads will put in the kind of performance to make him want to keep coming back!
  7. If you'd booked in advance I don't think it'd be a problem, only thing is, tomorrow's game is no longer available on Villa ticket site, so the only way of paying is as you get on. Not sure if the driver would just let you pay for the return half of the journey
  8. You could go A38, can snarl up a bit by Tyburn, and you get the inevitable match day traffic as you approach VP, but give it plenty of time and it's not too bad. AV1 bus runs from Corporation St Tamworth, picks up a couple of hours before KO, leaves half hour after final whistle. Timetables on Villas ticket page
  9. Grew up in Tamworth, been going to Villa for 35 years. When I first started going we could park on my mates nan's drive just off Lichfield Rd by Aston Station. Traffic was busy, but not like it is today, and I'm sure I remember police directing traffic. Once old enough to go on my own with mates, it was 2 trains or 2 buses, always regular and not a problem getting back, but most KO times were 3pm Saturday. Once beer got involved, we'd always hung around an hour or 2, used the Social or the Ads. Now I take my kids. If its Saturday or Sunday there's the AV1 bus from Tamworth, drops under the flyover by the church, picks up just by the academy past brookvale, a pain getting out, but reliable (have to cover the kids ears on the top deck though). Doesn't run for cup games though. The main issue is evening games. No feasible option for me other than driving, and then we have to leave early else it's midnight the kids get to bed on a school night. No buses back after a certain time, to wait for a train would make it even later. Its the bit I dread about going. I put in another thread it should only take me 23 minutes to get there by car, it can take 2 hours if I wait for final whistle.
  10. 13 miles in a straight line, 16 by car. Takes me 23 minutes to drive it on a non-match day, about 45 minutes getting to the game with traffic, 2 hours getting home, unless we leave before final whistle (yes sometimes I'm one of those nobs, but my lad is 10 and midnight is too late for him to get back in the week)
  11. Dunno how old you are but same for me, nan and grandad and my mom and dad (all brummies) drilled manners into us. Now my kids ask 'who's that?' when I say hello to strangers, they're amazed when I say 'I don't know them, just being polite'hopefully I can pass it on another generation or 2
  12. A bit of a spikey answer when the Sly interviewer just asked him why Cash was dropped
  13. They are, you are right, but upper Trinity has concessions and its still 63 quid up there, and we'd need 2 together. None seem to be available at kids rates. We'll just watch this one on the box
  14. So when these went on sale to members we weren't sure if we could go. Now we know we can get there. What annoys me is that they won't let you book a kids seat if it was previously assigned to an adult. Not paying 68 quid for a 10 year old
  15. I've been impressed with Lenglet, I think his vision and passing is actually very good, he can play those probing passes. Perfectly adequate back up to Pau in my opinion. I think a lot of this game will be played in Evertons half, so we need to be switched on when they break. Early goal please, 1-3, Ollie brace and a screamer from McGinn.
  16. Knowing absolutely nothing about trademarks/copyrights etc, I was wondering if when an image like the alleged new crest is submitted, does that mean that only that EXACT image is covered, leaving the door open for a very close knock-off to slip through the net, or does it cover anything similar to the design? Like if I was to start a football club, and use the leaked crest image, but changed the font or colours slightly, or turned the lion round, could I get away with that? My point is, could this be the basic premise that is trademarked, but still be subject to change after?
  17. I'm telling the twins from Fun House to not squabble and take it in turns
  18. Good God Almighty, they are absolute tripe. If Shrek the granny botherer ever gets another job after this I'll apply for the England job.
