Not the most entertaining game but plenty of chances really for both sides. A draw was fair and a draw away at Chelsea isn’t a bad result regardless of their recent issues. They’re still a top side with £100m’s of players at their disposal. The draw is frustrating though in that it’s another game to play, but hopefully we can do them at Villa Park and take confidence from that, along with an easier draw for the next round. 

Let’s hope this helps sharpen the players up for Tuesday.

Chelsea aren't as bad as people make out, fortunately they're still not great either 

After the first half showing as well then you'd be right, a replay probably not bad. 

It's just the first half performances have become more and more common over these past few weeks. It's a concern.

Great support, Martinez made some routine saves from some great Chelsea chances that we handed to them on a plate, Palmer dear oh dear. 

Good result,  started to play in the second half and could have nicked it but the result was good for us, back to villa Park and mop up the result, UTV..

It can’t be just because of Torres though.  Why is Diaby playing so bad? Tielemans playing like he did when he first joined us. Zaniolo not showing anything to improve our team. Kamara a little out of form.  Yet we are still just about grinding out results to keep us ticking over.

I think the ‘no Pau’ is a bit of an excuse really. He’s a good player but he’s not the reason we’ve been this bad for ages. His return will help, no doubt, but our form has been poor and other players have been dreadful.

The chant from villa fans when chuk came on was delightful. Beautiful clarity and enunciation - left everyone listening in no doubt as to what was being sung. Bravo

I genuinely think it basically is him, in either a primary or secondary way.

Primarily, he marshalls the defence, he adds a calmness to playing it out and he starts nearly every attack. Secondarily, he brings that confidence to the team. Kamara feels confident to play the ball back, midfielders can collect the ball in the correct positions and wingers can make better runs. The drop off to Lenglet in all those areas is killing us. We go from one of the best ball playing defenders in the Premier League to Lenglet who panics and can't do anything but hoof it.
