Man Utd bottom of their group as things stand

We need them and Newcastle to at least finish 3rd so they are still occupied with some European competition. Bad for us if they go out early and can focus on the league.

Newcastle, maybe.

I'm not particularly worried about Man Utd to be honest.

We also need them to rack up coefficient points so that England get 5 Champions League spaces next season.

Villa should be in no rush for the CL.

Why not?  Don’t you want us to qualify for it in case it messes up our chances of qualifying for it?

We aren’t ready for it yet, we’ll just lose our games and then bow out. Scraping in because of the 5th place would be a mistake imo.

Hopefully we go deep (kw) into the Europa flavours a few times first and then make the step up.

agree and disagree

losing all our games and bowing out shouldn't be a concern, we aren't winning it, same as newcastle we should want the big games, there's no reason to believe that we would embarrass ourselves

paired with IMO utd and chelsea wont be shit forever, newcastle will continue to get better, in say 3 years time that step up could be harder

we should take the huge shot in the arm that the CL would be even if we didn't do well in it

Who cares, we would make an unholy amount of money by qualifying for the CL, plus it would be much easier to attract players and pay them higher wages if we were in it. Also I don't think we would lose our games, we would be just as competitive as Newcastle. There are plenty of poor teams in the CL, like Celtic.
