2 losses to United and the Sheffield United game really cost us.

We genuinely should be in the thick of this. Obviously we aren't and we lost games we shouldn't have, I'm absolutely ecstatic with our performance this season so far - but it is difficult not to think "What if?"

It's hard not to think that but worth remembering on the flip side we've had some more fortunate moments like the late winner today, riding our luck v Arsenal etc. so maybe it balances out.

To win the league I think we would have needed everything to align and 2 or 3 teams to falter. Unfortunately those teams are absolute winning machines right now.

Still looks like being a fantastic season though. I would have bit your arm off if offered 4th/5th before a ball was kicked.

We took 3 of the 4 dropped points off two of them

Oh no. This is only going back the last six games or so I think. Like of their collective last 18 or 19 games, they've won all except a draw and a loss. All three are in complete title winning form.

I like your optimism, stranger things have happened and we still wouldn't be included in the title race

It’s pretty crazy that we had a run of 7 games after Brentford away where we picked up only 8 points and are still only 8 points off the top. A shame in some ways but shows how far we have come.

Absolutely no chance in hell. Most pundits will be tipping us for 6th-8th probably.

Don't see any reason why Villa would be considered title challengers next season. As Newcastle have shown, it will be difficult enough for us to try and replicate this season.

With our result against spurs  and arsenal having won against Brentford, the best this could now look is

Arsenal 65

Liverpool 65

City 64

Villa 61

I suspect Liverpool will beat Brighton putting them on 67 and we probably won't beat both wet spam and wolves. Mid week game before West Ham and wolves being a bogey team... one will bite us.

Whilst winning them would put us back in the vicinity,  we won't be title challengers and nor should we be considered as such. Especially as spurs may also be on 62.

I think this thread should probably die for this year now.

We aren't out of it, if our very own Justin Fashanu picks up the baton from Olly and 'sends it home'.

We don’t have the squad for the next couple of games, but if we won our next two, then again Man City and Arsenal games will be interesting. Not at home, without Kamara, but who knows how Tim will step up? No McGinn for City as well.
The difference between getting excited of winning next ten, while failing to win another 2-3 is really small.

So another two wins will help lifting some pressure out of us (with hopefully some losses for Utd more importantly and also Spurs). Even if we do we’ll have tough time to deal with UECL, but it is what it is and let’s take it game at a time and see where it takes us.
