If this is true, then fair play to him, he must have REALLY only wanted to join Barcelona.

I find it hard to believe though.

From Romano:

João Félix’s unbelievable salary! 😳🇵🇹
According to Pedro Morata from COPE, João will earn €400,000 from Barça throughout the entire season.
This was the massive effort made by the player mentioned by Barcelona in their statement.

Some of the suggestions have been ludicrous. Have heard people say Henderson, De Gea, Navas

Only short of making a cheeky bid for Neuer. At end of the day backup keeper for a non Champions League club you be lucky to get Joe Hart or Waybe Hennessey

Both clearly MUCH better than Olsen.

Sad how they attack Bailey so hard across the board, yeah not good enough but not all blame should be directed at him with such venom, if we were maybe a couple places higher Felix would have been a strong possibility, should have pinched Ferran Torres and pulled out all the stops to make it happen imo.

We had a very good transfer window but it just feels like we needed one more attacker.

The selling of Archer, Ramsey and Philogene gave the impression we would use that money to bring in a premier league ready player but we didn't.

Now loaning out Coutinho gets his wages off our books too without a replacement.

There's no doubt that we have great owners and a great manager but you could be mistaken thinking that our spending might have just been tightened a little.

I guess the next couple of transfer windows will tell us !

I agree. I would have expected at least one more attacking player esp with coutinho going and having a injury prone traore as one of the squad players

Think thats going to cost us

Though we still did spend roughly £80m gross or £50m net.   Our annual turnover is only £200m and we spend around £120m of that on wages.

I saw your I love Dougie post and got a shock then the resort to negative post. We've made massive strides for a non hegemonic top 6 team. It's going to be a several year process

Majority of your posts have a negative bias imo. Maybe it's just me. As for the other player thing I've posted enough about Smith et al explaining how making a signing is not as easy as people make out with 4 parties having to agree terms not even including the players partner and maybe kids moving if from overseas. Then the generic football stattos talking about only 53% chance new signing will be a success based on 6 factors whether it's us Liverpool,  Arsenal etc and every team signs turkeys often for big money. TLDR version it's not FIFA on the PS4 it's real life

I think he would struggle to find that anywhere at the moment.  Maybe a move back to the Midlands could be attractive to him as his family must have had some pretty deep ties to the area.

Allegedly: Aston Villa showed late interest in £73m player, his manager didn't want to sell - journalist (hitc.com)

Quote

Aston Villa showed late interest in Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho in the last transfer window.

That is according to Ben Jacobs’ CaughtOffside column.

Jadon Sancho is thought to be a player who Chelsea considered when the market was open, but it appears that Aston Villa also looked at the 23-year-old.

Aston Villa were interested in Jadon Sancho

Jacobs has claimed that Villa had Sancho on their radar late in the window, while Tottenham Hotspur considered him earlier in the summer.

The journalist has also stated that the England international was not a player who Erik ten Hag wanted to sell, so it seems a deal would have been difficult for the Midlands club to do.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea thought about bringing Sancho to Stamford Bridge but decided to sign Cole Palmer from Manchester City instead.

Even looking at that liverpool bench you could argue our depth is better than theirs

Our squad is good, we maybe at a push just need that one big piece to land in our lap, we don't need to go nuts

Our squad is good in many ways, and not so good in others......but its all about opinions.

Personally... I don't think it's good enough in a defensive sense( and I mean the whole team, not just the back 4)....I think in an offensive sense, it's very good.

a Tony Xia warchest of 3 rollercoasters and a VR room?

I'm pretty sure Villa already had a Video Recorder room. It was pretty common technology at the time. Not sure if they had a Rewinder on the payroll, but a lot of clubs did pay specialists to rewind match videotape.
