Match Thread: Villa v Everton

Everton awful and on that performance this is the year they will finally go down.

Villa haven’t been great either but then they don’t have to be.

The type of game you fall asleep to.

Daily reminder that Gueye wants to be known as Gana because he’s a raging homophobe.

For real? That is ridiculous XD

edit: considering how rampant homophobia is and how weird some people are I honestly couldn't tell if this was a joke or not

We needed that half after last week. Could easily be 4 up. Pickford shouldn't even be on the pitch for the foul and time wasting. We've otherwise been composed for the most part. We've had some sloppy moments but you've never felt we had any real threat of conceding. Digne has massively exploited the left and Bailey after a shaky start has been pivotal down the other flank. So much good play in the middle from Dougie and McGinn too.

Went a bit flat last 15 minutes, crowd need to do their bit to gee this up.

Still a little rusty in the middle, Bailey sorely lacking in confidence still. Would like to see Tielemans given a decent outing.

But all good, complacency might cost us, we should be at least 4 up by now, Diaby’s volley could have been a VP legend if it went in.

Hopefully we can get one more and try out Duran/Archer.

As ever at 2-0, next goal is crucial. We let Everton back into the game a bit toward the end but still looked dangerous going forward, Bailey been much better today, Digne’s crossing has been very much on point and I’m loving Diaby’s ‘weaker’ foot

Atmosphere is weirdly dead (unless this is just some telly thing).

McGinn, Digne and Bailey have been very good.  The game is too easy tbh.

I think it's a Sunday dinnertime thing, has a negative impact, always has done, you just can't approach the game in the same way as a fan

Really solid performance so far and exactly what we needed following last week.

Diaby, Bailey and McGinn all been very good, finding space in dangerous areas. the kind of game Coutinho would probably enjoy too, if he gets a run 2nd half.

Digne and Cash doing well too on the overlap.

Everton don't seem to have much about them. No real creativity in their team, just had that one chance from the neat one-two.

Hopefully a 3rd earlyish in the second and then we can cruise it. Only real blip was giving up the two soft yellows.

Not quite sure what you are expecting Villa to do it that wasn't great.  Two early goals.  Should have had a third - still can't quite fathom out how Diaby's shot didn't go in.  In complete control of the match.  We know that we have 2 more games in the next 7 days.  There's no point going all guns blazing.  A third early in the second half would be nice so that we can then play the remaining 57 mins at walking pace.
