He certainly has moments of question, lately....some say he can even play CB...judging by him not getting near the Nunez headed assist, I am not so sure.

Tielemans and Dendoncker will be watching, these things like we do.

BK has to defend better for me...but nor sure if Tielemans is any better in that dep't.

I don't think Tielmans is anywhere near BK when it comes to the defensive side of the game. The fact is BK is that good that it's really noticeable when he doesn't reach his usual standards.

I think Tielmans has been a little naive with that comment, not only does it make him seem almost entitled, but his colleagues could interpret the comment as , " oh he thinks he's better ghan us." We have developed a harmony amongst the squad that as been a pleasure to witnesses and I'm sure it's alao played a big part in not getting  overwhelmed when things don't always go as planned, Liverpool for instance. That togetherness is what provides the fuel for the bounceback ability as was evident after the defeats against Arsenal and Leicester last season.

I can imagine someone reminding YT that nothing is taken for granted whilst playing for this club, you'll get what you deserve when you deserve it.

What has he done to deserve his chance? His cameos have been forgettable so far

He looked better than Kamara in the preseason and Kamara clearly is not at his best right now. Why not give Tielemans a start? I was expecting a frequent rotation of Doug, Kamara, and Tielemans in the double pivot.

This is largely why this having backup players of equal level in all positions will fall apart.

It's so much easier having a smaller squad otherwise players will get unhappy and want to leave.

It's a short career and I get why players think this way.

Its also why man City are dominating and why the whole pep "anyone could do it" thing isn't true...

There’s an argument that managing a big squad has its challenges yes of course but I believe that Unai is more than capable of rising to the challenge. It’s still early in the season and we’ve already had injury problems a stronger and deep squad will be more important as the season progresses. Having a small squad has its problems too, I’m sure most managers would prefer the problems of having a larger squad rather than a smaller one.

But then there's uproar when our key player in that position gets injured.

Which in turn we need to make do with either no one cause we don't want a big squad, or an 18yr old player in that position that has barely tasted 1st team football.

So then any aspiration to crash the big 6, go far in cup competitions and try and sign higher calibre of players becomes a pipe dream.

As fans and the club, We have wanted to be where we currently find ourselves now for such a long time so i'm a little confused why some want us to go 'backwards'?

Tough for Tielemans that he’s competing with Luiz who’s been our most consistent player in the last 12 months. Luiz simply doesn’t deserve to be dropped and I’m not sure where else Tielemans fits in, he isn’t a defensive specialist like Kamara and isn’t energetic or dynamic enough to play more advanced and/or wider, it would take a change in formation to really fit him in which so far Emery hasn’t done.

I thought Tielemans gave Villa a better balance in midfield when he played in pre-season along with Philogene.

Its no surprise to me with those two not playing Villa haven’t looked as dynamic going forward.

Buendia is also a loss but aside from that Villa have **** up the balance of the side.

I’m not surprised Tielemans is unhappy and it was a mistake to sell Philogene.

Yet the same balance in midfield was fine last season just Ramsey got injured

Pre season is just for fitness and training. I wouldn’t read anything into it at all re who should be starting.

Well obviously. Then you rotate and refresh your squad and in the meantime you had good backups/rotation options and you sign other good players.
