another away at a very good Brighton side where we clearly outsmarted them tactically, and that was with late absences as well

This is even more of an achievement because he would have had to revise the game plan at short notice due to the Bailey and Watkins illnesses. The lack of pace up front made the job harder.

It's unbelievable the change he's implemented in such a short time.  You can actually see the difference on the pitch. With Carlos coming back and maybe 1 or two additions in January, he could have us firing by the end of Feb.

Or now, 2 wins in 2.

No disrespect to Smith who did an amazing job for us but Emery is the level of manager our owners must have wanted for a while.  I actually thought they were losing interest at one point with how long they stuck with Gerrard.   We can really push on.

I agree. We should all be thankful for the Smith era. He laid the foundations here by getting us promoted and building a squad that was very keen to learn and develop. Emery will reap all the benefits and has already commented how receptive the players are to his coaching methods. We saw how quickly they took it all on board from the matches under Emery so far.

Heard Pocc on a world cup preview podcast and I'm very pleased we got Emery instead.

He just seems more us.

English media really ridiculed Unai in his Arsenal stint. If we were to compare records, his managerial career compares quite favorably to Poch's. Poch really only won a couple trophies in his one year at PSG and hasn't won anything else.

Emery also has a better win ratio at PSG than both Poch and Tuchel.

That's because Poch had to manage Spurs the poor b**tard. The last time they won a trophy, Gazza was sober.

Still he should have won something, I mean if Emery can do it with Sevilla and Villarreal…..

Short interview here with his aims for Villa, mentions new players (not names)....all sounds good for us until he's asked about the world cup and he put's England in the mix..

lost all credibility with that statement 😉🤣
