No excuse. Gerrard didn't like Mings but still played him. Digne in a specialised position was replaced by a centre back

Rafa saw through him but we jumped as he is a big name

Maybe Emery can get decent performances from him but dont see it

He's hardly been that bad mate. His stats at Everton were very good. He's suffered with injuries here and like many not hit top form yet in a poor side.

Everton fans were gutted to see him leave, calling it Agent Benitez and all that.

I'm not worried about him at all, but we beed good back up if he's going to pick up all these injuries.

Not saying hes had the most run of games but we should have seen enough to determine we have overpaid for a player probably worth £22 mill max and he hasnt done much since his arrival , because if he had done the right things he would have been starting

I disagree again but we are going round in circles off topic and this is a transfer thread and Buendia isn’t going anywhere so a pointless discussion.

Injuries allowing, we'll see a lot more of what Digne can do when he's actually utilised as a full back and not some preposterous pseudo-winger role that never suited him.

Wasn’t that the issue at Everton? Rafa wanted him to defend Digne wanted to attack.

Gerrard was a plumb but he utilised Digne exactly how he wants to play. Defending isn’t his strength.

Yeah transfer thread as he is a potential transfer out along with bailey 🔚 and its two people putting there points across no tempers flaring here and your giving me food for thought too 👍🏽

Disagree. He's an attacking full back, for sure, I meant more so the bizarre way in which Gerrard used them though. He had the full backs often times playing as the highest wide players when it's not in their skillset to carry, dribble the ball and ostensibly play like wingers in such a system. Digne is very much still a full back in the sense of he gets forward by timing overlapping runs and so forth, we saw that at times and he proved to be effective but for much of his time under Gerrard he and Cash were deployed in roles that just didn't work.

If in the market for another winger then Leverkusen's Paulinho might be an option, still only 22, will be out of contract next summer, same agent as Douglas Luiz and possibly is a good friend of Leon Bailey as he is one of very small number of players Bailey follows on social media. Could be shrewd business. Out of favour as he won't sign a new contract but could reignite his career here.

I may only want to sign him as he is openly a Lula supporter which is rare for Brazilian footballers but I think it is the sign of a good character.

I've said it before and will echo this -- Lo Celso makes sense for us. And especially as Emery has worked with / signed him at two of his previous clubs so he definitely must have some sort of positive relationship with him

Replace McGinn with him and that's how we can progress to a more possession based team as him, Kamara and Luiz as options for double pivot would be really good for a mid table club not in europe. Ramsey can still provide the more direct scoring threat when he gets back in form.

He has only made 16 starts in 5 seasons at Leverkusen

I am fully aware that he won’t come here even with emery as manager but in the mings thread the were suggestions of trying to replace him with Pau Torres. Just looking online it appears he only has 18 months left on his contract, it expires summer 2024

How many Villareal players are we signing? 😂

Let me get this straight... we've got 2 Brazilian and 2 Argentinian internationals already, but somehow the idea of scouting for more Brazilians and Argentinians has passed us by?

Am I getting that right lol?

I think the OP meant players from the leagues in that region rather than after they have proven themselves in Europe and cost top dollar.
