Villa’s Race for Europe 22/23

We've got a run of so called easier fixtures coming up, but also every time we have such a run of games, we never seem to do as well as people expect, so will wait and see how we do in the next four or five. Football isn't always as simple as just because you've won some tough games then it means you're automatically then going to win the 'easier' games.

The thing MON had was that players would run through brick walls for him, beyond that there wasn’t much else.

Basically under Emery we have a MON with Elite level tactics to boot.

Would agree for sure...

It's been a long time since I felt this confident going into games.

Chelsea aren't great, Spuds might implode, there is an opportunity for top eight.

Everything is in place for us to give it a go.

We should have taken points of Liverpool, if it wasn't for dodgy defending and missing sitters. They are not great, were there for the taking.

We’re always going to get a few games against weaker opposition that just don’t go out way.

IF we beat Wolves in Gameweek 19 it really sets up a fascinating Gameweek 20 for us.
Beat Leeds on Friday night, Sit back and watch the chaos.
Most of the 11 teams above us play each other. We have a big chance to close the gap.

If we finish 7th are we guaranteed at least the Conference League?

Not for definite, requires the cups to help us out. Goes automatically to the winner of the Carabao cup, but if that winner is already in European competition it will go to the league (not runner up).

The FA cup would also have to be won by someone qualified for European competition to unlock the 7th place scenario.

Knowing our luck it will be bloody Palace and Forest win the cups, we'll finish 6th and get shit all. I think that happened in like 2005? As well

Top ten would be great.Top 7 would be better…..however top midlands side?

Since when have been interested in “pride of the midlands” trophy? It was invented for the likes of Wolves Stoke and the Baggies 😂

Along with the prestigious 'allowed to drink in town trophy'

Very refeshing for the league to see a newly promoted team and two with the smallest budgets (Fulham/Brentford/Brighton) all with a serious chance of european qualification. Think Fulham will ease up once they hit 40 points personally but I've been impressed with them in pretty much all their games, even the ones they've lost it's been 90th minute to some of the best sides in the league. No one is getting an easy game off Fulham compared to previous editions in recent years.

This is the season where xG kings Brighton click on the pitch, they could've scored about 8 tonight and are a very mature prem team these days with strength in depth. Tonight they started without Webster, Welbeck, Lallana, Trossard and Mcallister.

However we've beaten Brighton and Brentford recently so no reason why we can't get in the mix if we can keep winning in January. Big chance given the state Chelsea and increasingly Spurs are in for two secure european spots to fully open up as this month goes on.

Need a really good run of wins to overcome the handicap that Gerrard left us with.

And the higher up the league you get, the more wins everyone around you also gets, so takes longer and longer to move up a position once you’ve fallen behind.

5 points off the top half now given our goal difference. We've beaten Brighton, Man United and Spurs in our last 4 games and are still a way off even getting into the top half. Should have binned Gerrard off earlier.

Beat Wolves and Chelsea lose by a few goals to Man. City and we'll be practically equal.
