I was an idiot. In a space of a few years, we are talking how we need 5 wins to be in a shout of CL football. Agreed -- the fact that Emery is achieving this having only added one player to the squad, selling our leading goalscorer, and has actually not had great luck with injuries (Kamara, Cash, and Coutinho all out for multiple weeks), because he is simply getting all our other players to raise their game and play together, is hugely encouraging 3 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Them getting closer is positive in itself to be fair. Having them all back to full fitness for the final 3 or so will be massive. Even though I think Villa won’t get anything this weekend, if did manage to beat Man Utd and Wolves could have been going into that Spurs game knowing a draw/win would have sealed European football with 2 games to spare. It's been a brilliant season to get to where we are, we really have to take this chance now and get at least 7th - that's not going to be easy with our fixtures and we might need a bit of luck from elsewhere along the way. I really think this is a massive opportunity - next season is going to be tough and it'll be very difficult to finish in the top six or seven next season - finishing 6th or 7th this season and winning in Europe next might be simpler than finishing 6th in the Premier League! We've done an incredible job getting to here - it's an opportunity I hope we can take.
