DCJonah
It does feel like one of those games that we are meant to get slaughtered. Arsenal have a chance at going 5 for 5. So you know we'll snatch a win.
DJBOB
Sad but I even feel for McGinn and scapegoats like Digne and Cash. They are being asked to do monumental tasks defending against overloads while attacking a brick wall. Not fun when you're being sent out to slaughter every week.
sidcow Posted August 31, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted August 31, 2022 I don't buy the protecting Luiz because he's off argument. When a club is in that scenario the player in question is not in the squad, not on the bench.
Woody1000
So we start with the same team that started against Crystal Palace, but expect a different result? I’m done. Off you f*** Stevie!

But it doesn't seem to be based on who we play. We seem to have a home set up and an away set up. Neither have worked well.

Clearly he rates Konsa's superior pace over Chambers' superior ball-playing and reading of the game. I don't agree.

Your logic is sound, but not where we are involved.
jacketspuds
I want points on the board more than Gerrard getting sacked quicker. Please win tonight. 2
Skruff
If this is to work McGinn and Ramsey needs to be in top from, sadly neither are. How stubborn can you be? Hopefully there's something in the system that will eventually click. Can't see it happening though. Wish we'd see something like this Archer - ------- - Bailey ----------Buendia-------- Tim-Kamara-Luiz
brummybloke
No Tim and doug, clearly the 2 in midfield with kamara to make us solid and retain the ball. No chambers, Konsa gets the nod again, presumably because he is faster than Chambers. Literally those changes totally alter our teams ability to compete. Maybe he is hoping for the 1 in 10 games where mcginn and Ramsey have done well combined? Go 1 nil down in the first 20 mins and I fear the worst, the sides not exactly tough on their best days but with the selection starting it's even more of an up hill battle. It's hard to counter when seven of your players are already in forward positions. We're playing a team designed to dominate the ball, territory and the game.. Which seems an unlikely outcome That's is what he is attempting, it's hard to read the tactical machinations of our manager.

Bailey has played almost exclusively for us on the right wing cutting inside, Buendia played on the right for Norwich, Ramsey has been playing on the right of midfield so that McGinn can play on the left side of the midfield two, Watkins plays centrally but drifts out wide into the corners (usually on the left) to make sure that he and Ings are never close enough together to form a useful partnership, Digne plays down the left in the space that Watkins is trying to get into so that they can get in each others way and he can be out of position when the opposition break.. 4
bielesibub
After the team announcement and my £5 free bet on a Villa win tonight. I'll really enjoy my Mouton Rothschild '45, that I bought with the soon to be winnings from the game.
