In fairness to the formation, they haven't really created anything of note.  Bar a poor pass from McGinn, it's been pretty "comfortable" defensively.  Exactly the same as against Man Utd where they had all the ball and loads of shots but mostly from distance or not clear cut opportunities.

The problem is that, unlike against Man Utd, we're not being smart when we're on the ball.  The midfield has been poor (although McGinn got better towards the end) and Watkins has looked well off the boil.  I think the formation suits us well overall.  However, we also have the ability to switch up when it isn't working and there's certainly some validity in bringing some width into this game - particularly as we're playing quite a few balls into the channels.

Agree it's a good defensive formation, and as we press high up it looks like an attacking one. The problem is that we cant get around is that we don't have players creative enough to play any good attacking creative football, it's kick and run, long ball, direct style. Buendia and Traore are quality players who can create chances, we need them on the pitch. If we can fit them in this formation then good, but we need more quality creativity, not just kick and run football.

We need to give Buendia a run of games to play himself into form and to add that much needed creativity, not a fan of playing with 5 defenders personally. Maybe the right move against the  ore dominant teams but the Watkins & Ings partnership isn’t working, we need to be better on the ball and improve our passing. Not rely on set pieces and long throws.

Our best players have been on the bench or injured… need to get them involved asap.

Problem is Buendia chose to go against the clubs initial wishes and missed a game in which we played really well. We then beat Everton and United.

That’s something that winds me up. Villa kick off, pass it back, Hause boots it out of play. Happens all the time, not from Hause but in general. We always waste possession from kick off.

Dean wasn't pleased either.

We do it too much.

Personally, i'd like to see a wildcard from the 60 minute mark - lets give Jaden Philogene Bidace or young Cameron Archer an opportunity to see what they can do. Yiuthful enthusiasm could be of benefit for us in this game. Spurs won't know what to expect from them either.
