I totally agree with you about the subs thing but I also don't agree with making subs just for the sake of it. 

If somone is struggling then yes take em off, if someone is limping then yes take em off.

_50 /10 - I think you may be exaggerating slightly, especially after a win.

Prime Bruce - smith has taken us from midtable to promotion to survival to edge of Europe - comparison to Bruce is no longer relevant. 

Players will be dead on their feet. - they've just had 3 weeks off.

I’d say when you can see the team getting overloaded and looking tired, it’s not making a sub for the sake of it to try to preempt the game going against us. At 75mins onwards we were struggling, we got exposed a few times and lacked fresh legs and adequate cover in front of the defence. McGinn and Douglas Luiz worked hard but you’ve got to help them out. We were simply lucky to not concede at the end there, I think it’s perfectly reasonable to have both faith and belief that Deano is the right man for us but also have an open conversation about an area he seems to struggle with as a head coach. He will be doing that, it’s what he does...he wants to improve and I hope he looks retrospectively at his decision making today.

Barkley is playing basically as a second striker in this system with McGinn and Douglas Luiz as more of a double pivot. If those two are getting tired and we are protecting a lead like that then surely sacrifice Barkley, bring on Nakamba and switch the system slightly to protect the defence. Then utilise someone Trez with huge work rate to provide both defensive cover and a counter attack threat. As it was we left Barkley on playing basically up front and exposed the tiring double pivot. Not the players fault and I can understand Smith wanting to keep a threat on the counter as well but we have to be proactive and not reactive...last game against Burnley we only reacted with subs when things had already gone wrong...fortunate it didn’t happen again today. 
 

Again, Deano is the man for me, love him, but he needs to take a look at his approach today.

He could have broken Emi's hand or wrist.

Despite the VAR calls going for us for a change the referee is an absolute mug. Jack was constantly fouled in fact in the second half at one point he got clotheslined. There were constantly pulling our shirts then we do far less and get pulled up. 

So in light of that rant dear Southampton, VAR and that bluenose scumbag who stamped on Emi .

Agreed. At first I thought it was Cash but from the other angle you can clearly see he leaves his boot in.

We deserved to win, mainly because we scored a perfectly legal goal.. and they didn’t..

I’ve lived in Southampton for over twenty years now... and this result is so overdue. Thank you Villa!

Not a great performance but a great result. Played much better (going forward) against Burnley and came away with nothing. Got nothing against Brighton and West Ham too yet totally outplayed them. Swings and roundabouts.

Enjoy the win. Enjoy the 3 points. We rode our luck, but we were well overdue some good fortune.

I did think Deano should have made some subs around the hour mark, but ultimately we won, so not sure why soooo much negativity. If he had made the changes and we had lost - he would be getting criticised for that too. No win situation really.

Just to clarify. VAR only clarified 2 decisions tonight , not changed them. Before VAR the handball would not have been given and the linesman flagged for offside

for the "goal" so neither wopuld have been given. VAR just confirmed that both decisions were correct. No argument really!!

Very good referee performance, first time I've thought that in a very long time. 

Martinez MOTM simply down to his incredible saves. Distribution could've been better at times for me but still my MOTM.

Manager performance I've put as average. I was screaming out for changes from about 60 mins. I was sure he would bring Sanson on, however it was not to be. Soton were getting more and more into it, i felt we needed fresh legs. Maybe Sanson is not 100% fit yet. Either way, we won so who am I to criticise. If that equaliser was allowed though the air would've been blue in my house.
