He's not the player we need. Villa are already a good counter attacking team. We need players who are good on the ball, not Rashica

not an expert on Rashica, but he seems like the type of signing who will take some pressure off Grealish by being good on the ball and keeping possession.

The biggest single problem we have is most of our players panic as soon as players rush at them and if there isn't an obvious pass on they lose possession cheaply, our league is very physical but the big boys are masters at keeping possession and passing under pressure. We are good at playing on the counter but our ball retention when not rushing forward is dire.

Milot and Buendia would help counter that.

I have no idea if Rashica is any good at that but you are spot on in your identification of our weaknesses. When we keep posession for spells we look a threat to most teams. However against sides that press well the ball always find a weak link in our side and we give away posession cheaply.

Spot on. We defend very very narrow, meaning its very easy to pin us back. There's no release ball except to lump it to Watkins with about 3 cbs surrounding him. Possession is recycled.

Grealish is so vital because he can receive the ball near his box, keep hold of it, draw a foul etc and move the whole team up.

If Rashica can do that he will be important defensively as well as offensively.

If he's available for cut price, £13m mooted in press, then it seems a no brainer. El Ghazi and Milot as options on the left isn't too bad.

Although if is between Pereira and Milot then I'm not sure which is the better option. They could be plan a and or b for the recruitment team

If we can get him for anywhere less than 15m, it is a deal worth doing and could end up being a bargain. I just think he needs a move away to revive himself & his career, it’s overdue.

At the very least, he’d be an upgrade on both Trez & El Ghazi - we’ve seen enough of them to realise that they’re not top half PL players but they are ok from the bench and I acknowledge El Ghazi’s goals & pens but he has usually been the weakest of our attacking players and doesn’t do enough in terms of build up play, retaining possession, beating or going past his man, delivery & assists. Plus, he only does well when the team is playing well, he never shines or produces any moments of individual brilliance when we are struggling. His shooting and finishing can often be wayward. Trez is just poor but his attitude is spot on and now he’s injured for the long term so we need more options anyway.

Rashica, or a similar player, offers us something different. And when he is fit and on form is way better than both of them.

Explosive pace and power, coupled with finishing prowess is an option we don’t have. And his ability to play as a striker is a huge bonus. I’d back him to get plenty of goals for us, he’s done the business against the likes of Bayern.

We should look past this season (and not hold petty grudges on just a rumour that he didn’t want to join our relegation fight) in terms of judging him, he’s been excellent beforehand and been disrupted by injuries and playing for a poor team that he may have been desperate to get away from and was blocked from doing so.

Aston Villa handed dream chance to sign Werder Bremen’s Milot Rashica

Aston Villa have been handed a golden chance to sign Werder Bremen winger Milot Rashica this summer.

It was claimed that, after initially wanting to stay in the Bundesliga, the Kosovan had a change of heart and was open to a move to the Premier League and to Villa, with Dean Smith’s side ready to spend big to get him.

While a deal failed to materialise before the end of the deadline, it appears that Villa are ready to go back in for the winger. According to Football Insider, the Midlands club are preparing a fresh move for the 24-year-old this summer, adding that he “is on the club’s shortlist of potential wide forward signings going into the next transfer window”.

They have been handed a potentially significant boost in the chase to sign him, with Bremen’s relegation from the Bundesliga confirmed at the weekend after their defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach.

Given how Johan Lange wanted to sign him last summer, news that Bremen have gone down will surely have Villa’s sporting director grinning from ear to ear over potentially doing a deal for Rashica this time around – and at a potential cut-price fee, too.

Florian Kohfeldt, Rashica’s manager at Bremen, has previously raved about the winger’s ability, saying: “He is a player who can decide Bundesliga games. You don’t find that very often. Milot has incredible skills. In speed, in goal scoring, in passing. These skills also fall on others. Rashica would fit well to England with his pace, but also with his style of play to Spain.”

Hailed as someone who “makes scoring look easy”, the 24-year-old Rashica can play anywhere just behind the striker as well as at centre-forward, and that kind of versatility will surely be very much appreciated by Smith.

Bremen’s relegation gives Villa the perfect chance to finally snap him up.

That was not enough for Werder, but times have now changed, and according to Kicker’s information, it is possible that there is a €15m release clause in his contract following relegation.

Jack Buendia Bertie/Milot.

Have to think there might be one going out or even resigning ourselves to operating as if Trez has gone.

I think that is pretty much it. Trez is out for the best part of a year, and god knows how long it would take him to get to full match fitness.

Bare in mind, Trez is only really " good " when he is at 110 percent.

Unfortunately I could see him becoming obsolete here. If he doesn't, it would 1 or 2 of the aforementioned will have been tripe.

Although, 4 players in the squad for CAM/Wing actually isn't overkill by any stretch. You are only 1 or 2 injuries away from bare bones.

We will have passed Trez by come then hopefully. The kids will be knocking on the door by that time too.

Wow, they have some kind of inside information which has revealed that it is possible that there is a release clause.  That's some kind of razor sharp journalism there😁😁

Almost a shame to have fans back in the stadiums now.

There would be no better way to intimidate the opposition. Why did we not do it?
