Only2McInallys
He seems a much more confident striker since Emery arrived. He has so many attributes; he can run with the ball,he can dribble,he closes down actively and he scores. He is not a clinical finisher but he seems much sharper recently. For us he has done very well.If we were to upgrade it would require £70 -£90 million. What we need to look for is someone else to provide goals with him.
Popular Post KentVillan
I would rather have a striker like Watkins in this side than a Kevin Phillips / Robbie Fowler type. Obviously everyone wants the complete package... the Kane / Haaland / Lewandowski type, but I think you have to make some trade offs, and for where we are, Watkins has the right attributes. The last striker to hit double figures in the PL for us in 3 consecutive seasons was Benteke. Watkins needs 3 in the next 14 games to match that. Gabby and Big John both did it 07-10. Yorke did it 95-98. Saunders did it 92-95 Dublin and Angel never managed it. Basically his scoring record is comparable with (if not better than) a lot of players held in high regard here, and he brings a lot to the team. Yes, we've never really had a top drawer striker in the Premier League... maybe Yorke... so perhaps it points to a longstanding problem at the club. But he's clearly a player worth persisting with. If he could do all the things people want from him, I don't think he'd be playing for us.

Nobody. Been brilliant of late. Can’t fault him in any way. Well said, I swear some on here think they support Citeh or PSG. We ain't getting a better striker than Ollie without big bucks and European football...
Villan_of_oz Posted February 26, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted February 26, 2023 He's 30 in my FM save and he's just scored 4 in a match and missed a penalty.... And yes I love Ollie even in my save, I sold him once for 54m to Spurs and felt so dirty afterwards I had to start over. It's 2028 and we've won an FA cup and the European conference league. To be fair, Southgate has picked him ever time he's been in form. I think he's a very Southgate kind of player.

Popular Post bobzy
Ball played long to Watkins, he controls it perfectly lays it off to McGinn and we score a crucial goal to kill the game off. Same old people: “his touch isn’t good enough”. Get in the **** bin. 7
Philosopher
Ollie is confident and looking a force infront of goal. His workrate, pressing, ability to work the channels is still his bread and butter. The first touch still lets him down sometimes, and he isn't great one on one (but capable). He was poor with his one on one's yesterday, little to feed off as the supply was poor, good penalty.

That touch for the second goal was indeed very good. Don't be so defensive.
