Richards, Lescott, Drinkwater, McCormack, Gabby(last 5 years) Hogan, Baston, Gardner, Cissokho, Luna, Bennett, Bednarek, Olsen, Barkley, Jota, Kalinic, Tshibola, Samagoal, Bolasie Not sure how many that is but just off top of my head and Wesley did more than them. Is definitely a few more duds I missed

wilko154
Fans regard Wesley as a poor signing, and for the money and how it's turned out since the injury it's a fair assesment. But realistically if you look at the 19/20 season we stayed up by 1 point. Wesley scored goals that contributed to winning us 6 points. Everton - Goal and contribution to El Ghazi's late goal Burnley - Scored the goal before his injury that put us on the way to winning He also contributed to the Norwich win, although it is likely we would have won anyway. Chances are if he had stayed fit that season he would have scored more vital goals and would have been hailed as one of the main reasons we retained PL status.

McCormack and Hogan at 14 million each in the Championship were pretty much record signings for the league Wesley price has been shown in recent years with higher cost duds in the league like Haller, Scamacca and Nunez

Hogan was shit. Still a better buy than at £15m than Wes was at £20m.

If only we had someone to find his incredible runs. Edited July 8, 2023 by Sulberto21

You could say the same for any player that season scoring a goal, never mind keeper saves, defensive tackles, etc. I think you will find it was any player participating that season that kept us up.

He probably would have scored 8 or 9 goals by the end of the year. For a player that is purportedly shit he wasn't anywhere near as bad as people make out.

Wes was miles better than Samatta. People are forgetting he was 22 years old, first season in the Prem for both him and us, plus we were an awful side. He still managed 5 goals in 21 games despite people thinking he was poor. People were calling Luiz dreadful that season, now I'm not saying he was ever going to progress like Luiz has but he had time to do it.

Samatta was consistently woeful. Wesley had some truly good games that at least gave you hope. He was also like 5/6 years younger.
pete101
He was struggling with the physicality of the league big time well before his injury, Was very strange for a man of his size he really didn't like contact, spent a lot of time on the ground
