hippo
If I were Derby I would stick players close to Grealish and Mcginn - and not overly worry about our wide players. Adomah, El-ghazi, Abraham - we need good games from those.

romavillan Posted May 26, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted May 26, 2019 The Tranmere and Charlton results mean the teams who finished higher in the league have gone up in their two finals. Let's hope that continues tomorrow. Both us and Derby play the right way and play good stuff. They are not able to defend like Albion did against us so I expect it to be more of an open game. If both teams relax and play their stuff it'll be a great game. If the occasion gets to them or us then it'll be decisive. **** shitting it myself so can only imagine what it's going to be like pulling a Villa shirt on tomorrow and going down the tunnel.... hippo
the other two finals have been tense affairs - I hope ours is a stroll in the park - with us being two goals to the good early on. .....or will be the only final that goes to penalties ..(gulp !) Keyblade
Gonna be at work tomorrow while the game is on. Will turn off all communication. Hopefully we're already promoted by the time I get home, but by God is it going to be nervy all day. How do I even think of anything else?
Popular Post The Fun Factory
I have a collection of some old Villa programs. I will quote one if I may. It's the 1971 League Cup Final v Spurs. Its before my time but we all know that then Villa were in the third division (league one in 2019) having beaten Man U in the semi final. The quote below I think holds up still even today- "The one constant factor in recent times has been the loyalty and faith of the Villa Park crowd. They have become the talk of the game, and the inspiration of the team. It is hard perhaps for those neutrals who live outside Birmingham to understand why the Villa Park gates are higher than any in the Second Division this season and many in the First. It is hard to grasp why there should be such loyalty at this time. The answer lies in the feeling that something positive is being done to return the club to its former greatness. Not in words, but in deeds. Not in fiction, but in fact. They knew what had to be done, and now they can see what is being done ..... Regardless of today's result the players have found faith in themselves and restored pride to the massive band of supporters who backed them. There is still much to do, and it would be foolish and futile to put a time limit on achievement. What matters most is that the once-ailing Aston Vila is alive and well.'" Lets all go down to Wembley Way feeling proud of the team who have had such an amazing run to get here. We have the players, fans and owners united behind the goal, and that is to win tomorrow. Up the Villa. Edited May 26, 2019 by The Fun Factory 9

Johnnyp
I know it's different opposition and different personell but i was annoyed after the game last year, where let's call a spade a spade, Mitrovic was too clever , too physical and just dominated Chester and Terry . We need to take control at the back tomorrow. That's paramount. Tuanzebe is probably even a shade better at bringing the ball out than Ty, when he starts getting comfortable on it and bringing it out he really plays through the lines and gets us much further up the field as s collective. This is vital. We take control in our defence and we play the game on our terms.
