You might want to watch the two Arsenal goals again.  Let Jesus run across him on the first (after both Cash and Konsa had stood off their respective men).  On the second he did what he's been doing for three seasons now.  Stood three yards off his man (Saka), let him get it onto his strong foot and pick a pass, six yards away from our goal.  He is a terrible 1v1 defender and has been responsible for so many moments like that. Shouting and yelling and pointing can't mask it. Posting on social media doesn't make him a good 1v1 defender.

Sounds like you have a personal problem against him.

First goal he switched off thinking the danger had gone. Not so sure about the second being poor defending on his part. I'd look more at the space Martinelli found himself in so close to goal. I was, however, concerned early on when he was favourite for a ball that Jesus was chasing (after the casual Kamara back heel into danger) but was easily shrugged off it as Jesus just got his body across him. Luckily, Saka couldn't finish a simple chance and Cash cleared.

If we can be rational for a moment and not get sucked into a culture war over the issue I'd say Gerrard's antipathy towards Mings has some legitimate basis. The problem is how he's managed the whole situation, particularly so given the options we have available in central defence.

you might want to watch them again...

the first goal is because ramsey and cash both press the arsenal left back whilst kamara and konsa stand and watch xhaka ghost in to our penalty area and get a shot off and even then its a deflection but martinez has to do better, yes mings also has to do better but **** hell thats awful from konsa , he's marking no one (again)

2nd goal for me is all cash, not only does he lose the flight of the ball on the first long ball he's then completely lost martinelli, the other interesting thing with it is that we've got ourselves in to a mess at the back when closing down saka because mings and digne rushed out to put pressure on the arsenal player on the edge of the box because we have a non existent midfield, he's once again scrambling rather than holding his position, watch the build up saka isnt his man jesus is but he has to leave him because of how badly we set up, again its not perfect defending he can get closer and apply more pressure but he's chose to stand him up and make him pick a pass, its cash not marking his man that makes that pass easy not mings standing off

the main point being both goals are once again a comedy of errors that somehow land at mings' feet when he's not the main culprit

The whole team was abysmal yesterday; not one person did their job properly, and that includes Mings. It seems fair to point that out on the thread about him. His passing stats were the worst of any outfield player, which played its part in us being under constant pressure. He wasn't solely to blame for any of the goals, but played his part in them. He was also poor for Gabriel's early effort, and against Jesus when Odegaard had a couple of attempts. Cash should have done better for the first goal, and Martinez definielty should. That doesn't excuse Mings switching off to leave Jesus with an easy tap in though. For the second, again not all his fault, and again poor from Cash and Martinez, but Mings didn't do enough to close down Saka. If having an opinion is having an agenda or trolling, then hey ho.

1st goal Cash and Ramsey close the player down but neither of them get close enough to him, he can easily pass the ball straight through. One should go to him, offer him the outside and the other should stand off a bit.

None of our defence came out looking good but Ming's was the best out of them all.

He was the best of a bad bunch in our back 5 (including Martinez) but I don't think that says much to be honest. The two goals we conceded were absolutely dreadful goals with several culprits to blame in the build ups.

On last night's performance I'd rate Martinez 5 Cash 3 Digne 5 Mings 6 Konsa 4 - You need to be hitting 8's and 9's if you've any chance of coming back with 3 points.

I'd still easily have him captain over McGinn though 😭

I was there watching the game, and he was dismal. Caughtin no man's land time and time again, and forever giving the ball away. Watch the goal again on Sky or BT, he was goal side of Haaland, then just leaves him alone, giving the City player a simple tap in for the first goal. He was dreadful all night.

Is that you Stevie?
