Jareth Posted October 11, 2018 VT Supporter Share Posted October 11, 2018 Leaves us on a positive note knowing Villa are on a sound footing and coming back - glad it's now and not last summer - that would have meant a lot to him.

Popular Post hippo
Had his shortcomings as chairman. But won me over still following villa home and away until his dying day.

StewieGriffin
RIP Doug. Say what you want about his chairmanship (and many will I'm sure), but he was a Villa man. Like it or not, he will be remembered in Villa history as such. In before anyone says "can we rename the stand now plz?"
dAVe80
Not gonna pretend I had any great love for the man. I stood/sat on the Holte End on more than one occasion calling for his head, but I have great respect for what he achieved in his life. RIP Sir Doug.

claretman
I thought he held us back at varying points during his reign but there is no denying the man was Villa through and through. RIP.

He would have won Wimbledon too, if he wasn't busy inventing package holidays.

Popular Post tonyh29
Someone who polarises the fan base but I hope he's given a respectable tribute at VP next home match My favourite personal Doug memory was away to Southampton , I was in the corporate area , sometime before kick off he was walking in the same general direction as me , presumably we were both heading to the gents , brief eye contact and he smiled , nodded and said hello , then Doug opened the door ..... and walked into a cupboard 7
