And football is getting more popular every year. The demand we was having last season was similar to the MON years and we were in the championship ffs . Best thing that happened to us going down. It woke the fanbase up.

Nowhere near. Good attendances, high 30k's and over 40 for the big teams, but rarely sold out. Away games too are higher demand now. During the o'neill days i went to blackburn away on a sunday and there was probably only about 900 of us there.

Think economy has improved since to be fair...unemployment is at its lowest in god knows how long currently whereas back then we were in a recession

We took 5k to a Saturday game up there during the MON years. That’s a good following but it’s not a sell out. Last season we were taking 5k to numerous places and it weren’t even making general sale. Demand for away games in the championship was higher than when we were top 6 in prem. Quite surprising.

Not really, it was chance to get to grounds that we’d not visited for years and would hope to not visit again for years!

In fairness if thats the game I am thinking about where it was Venkys first game after buying the club, the tickets went on sale pretty much a week before the game, plus it was on Sky

I'm pretty sure that was after O'Neill as well, Houllier's season wasn't it?

Except that's not true of the likes of Blackburn, Bolton & Wigan is it? All recent Prem clubs.

Even Preston who also gave a big allocation, given we were in the third season in the EFL.

07-08 was the first year for about 60 years we averaged 40,000. Then strangely it started to drop off a bit. MON team's were also better away than at home which may have played a part but it surprised me and certainly stopped Lerner thinking about expanding before he got bored of Villa.

Just got mine in L8! Went for the cheapest one as there’s a few games I know I can’t make due to holidays already booked and other commitments. Hopefully the resale scheme will be easy to use for the games I can’t make it to!

Sold!

Also Preston and Wigan didn’t make general sale. Our away support last season, or infact the last three seasons has been the best it has in ages. New grounds, winning more, and just a much more galvanised support.

So today is the day (5pm deadline) for the first 1000 on the waiting list.

Any updates on how many purchased out the first batch or how many are available?

Going by the online site there are 804 left. That means only around 300 purchased out of the first 1k. I think there will be loads that don’t purchase.

Same here, wasn't sure if they were letting the next 1000 know today or not

This is what I got from the website...Further information will be sent to the next 1,000 in the waiting list shortly after the deadline, subject to Season Ticket take-up.
