The Game's Gone

PSV would make 1000 times more in gate receipts and tv rights than do in Eredivisie

. . . and lose every week.

It's not actually very appealing as a prospect, which is why it will never happen. These clubs do not want to suddenly endure regular seasons where they lose the majority of their games. The European Super League already exists in the role it is intended to perform, which is as a device for extorting their national associations into giving them all the concessions they want.

They'd be able to sign players at a much higher caliber than they can now.

All the money in football would shift to this league and this is where the big name players will wan't to be. Just like Monaco were able to sign top players a few years back so would the likes of PSV if they joined this league.

They'd become much more competitive pretty fast.

They (I assume we're still talking about PSV here) absolutely would not become more competitive. Every other team they played would have better players than them, and they would now be the smallest team and least attractive proposition in their division.

But still more attractive than pretty much every club outside of this league.

No one is saying they would become Barcelona over a summer but they are historically a very successful club and it's only the silly money elsewhere that has distanced them from the elite in the last 15 years or so.

Okay, we may have to agree to disagree.

Regardless, my point is that the league will not happen, because it existing as a league in which teams have to fear seasons when they lose the majority of games they play is far less useful to those teams than using the concept of it as leverage against national football associations.

FA's should call their bluff.

Some of us have said in the past that modern football is rubbish and too much money sloshing about in it and how it would all come crashing down one day. Maybe we are approaching that day?

Season potentially void? Maybe can't start next season? No one knows yet. No gate receipts for clubs. No TV money as Sky/BT won't pay for a product not on the pitch. Huge salaries paid for average players. Could it all collapse like a house of cards?

You could be right. I guess clubs with rich owners would survive. UEFA would scrap FFP to allow clubs to bail themselves out. A lot would go under.

Gone unnoticed in the grand scheme of things but PSG led by Neymar acting classless by mocking Haaland during and after the game because of a fake Snapchat post.

It's a soft, mentally weak, club. Not surprised they've been rattled so much by a kid.

Dele Ali, Kyle Walker, Mahrez, Madisson and a few other idiots partying over the weekend.

THAT is exactly what is wrong with football - irresponsible, overpaid idiots.

Footballers and free time is just the worst combination. Almost exclusively morons.

but he'll get away with it

then when football finally resumes and the euros happen or a transfer window comes back and grealish is linked with England and a top team there'll be comments about his party boy nature and maturity

Don't forget when he goes to Man Utd people say he's come on loads as a player and stopped partying like he did at Villa.
