rodders0223
Nige had an ego his talent couldn't match. If he had an ounce of humility he could have stayed in the PL for another half a decade just using his engine and running around doing donkey work...but alas, the poor bloke thought he was an actual footballer and walked out on numerous clubs to further pursue a team that matched his ambitions and Pirloesque playing abilities, alas, each time the offers were less and less enticing as clubs wised up to the fact it was all about Nigel.Ended up in the MLS before 30, not even on a designated player contract. Oops. I wonder if he is still with that agent.

Not exactly prolific is he 26 y.o. 200 career games and only 25 goals in top flight football. 55 in total, but most of them have come in reserve league games. Still, £5.3m doesn't even get you half an unfit Scottish second league attacker who can't get out of his back yard...
villa4europe
it seems strange when milan obviously have a bit of cash this summer and have strengthened other areas as well as having some decent yoof prospects and then up front they have bacca and then lapadula (mastour isnt ready) last season they had ocampos and deulofeu on loan can only assume he's replacing them as a squad player maybe with niang i dont think its enough to get to where they want to be, they need a splurge up front still

He really was a poor player though I think in January somebody in transfer thread even called for us to re-sign him

Norwegian second tier club IK Start, that is. Still only 33, too. I actually thought he was still at Granada. Mad to think he's still only 33. He left us in his prime at 27 ( and after having quite a decent season under Houllier) yet the best he could come up with was Bolton team getting relegated and since then he's drifted into obscurity. He was no world beater but a decent enough pressing defensive midfielder in the premier league. Something went wrong somewhere along the line as I doubt Bolton were paying him more than what we gave him for 4 years.
villan-scott Posted June 29, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted June 29, 2017 Defoe to Bournemouth on a 3 year deal. Yes that's right... a 3 year deal for 34 year old Jermain Defoe.
sne
Leeds looking to build an all Swedish CB pairing next season. Trying to sign Swedish international (not a regular) Filip Helander from Bologna. He played alongside Pontus Jansson at Malmö FF a few years back. Could be a potentially really good signing if they pull it off. £4-5m Edited June 29, 2017 by sne

Getting Felix Wiedwald in from Werder Bremen for between the sticks too. They are only spending a fraction of what we pay for Championship players too.........

We are going about it the absolute opposite way I was hoping we'd do things when we got a new owner. From the "football people", to the manager, coaches and down to the transfer strategy. To be fair we've made some good signings, but the value for money when shopping in the Championship is just silly. £70-80m to finish 13th... But hey ho, if we throw enough money at it, it might work out anyway.

villa4europe
they're paying for what they could be rather than what they are, the obvious problem there being the ridiculous hype and self inflation that comes with english football £20m is what milan played for romagnoli, a guy with more potential than stones, PSG paid £25m for marquinhos, madrid paid £10m for varane, jose gimenez cost atletico >£1m, sule has just gone to bayern for £18m liverpool eyeing up a £70m bid for a guy who has played 1 season in a top league, no experience in the CL, no major international experience its laughable Edited June 30, 2017 by villa4europe
