Adriano was up there just shy of Ronaldo (Brazilian). Unfortunately after his dad passed away he lost interest in the game.

He was very good but you right, not in Ronaldo's class.

When Defore was at Spurs I would've loved us to sign him.

However I always thought he was a bit one dimensional, needed to play with a strike partner and could never really hold the ball up on his own.

He's totally reinvented himself at Sunderland so fair play to him, back in the England team and scoring.

He's certainly been excellent tonight. Made our midfielders look rubbish (which to be fair, in Nordtveit's case, might not be saying a whole lot).

Steven Davis. Mr Consistency and rarely puts in a bad performance when you watch him play. Arguably in top 10-15 midfielders in Premier League at moment

He was excellent for us in DOL's awful final season here, a revelation in central midfield, giving us lots of energy, good passing and some goals (scored 7 or 8 that season). MON comes in and he goes to shit, often electing to play him on the right. Great to see him have such a good career since, very good player.

Wouldn't say just shy, prime for prime Ronaldo was light years ahead of him. That said Adriano was a top quality player, had pace power and an absolute **** jackhammer for a left foot, one of the most powerful shooters I've seen.

Jermaine Defoe is a great example of how long you can go if you look after yourself. Listening to him speak he always seemed a truly dedicated pro, who lived for scoring goals, and that is still in him. Still lean as anything, still got a touch of pace, clearly hasn't indulged in alcohol or smoking at any point as shown by his athletic capabilities still being evident. Still wants to score goals, still wants to punish defenders, still lives his whole life geared towards being in prime condition when that ball is played in front of him on a Saturday afternoon.

Then we have Gabby, you only have to look at his gait to see he has ruined himself.

Pro Evo hero.

There are certain things people refer to in life and you're able to visualise exactly what they mean.  "scoring a Beckham", "scoring a Yeboah", "Adriano on a red arrow".  Beast.

Defoe is actually a very religious person, this has probably been to his benefit.

We must be the only club in the world with 2 strikers held back by their gait.........

While Defoe is still looking the part, let's not forget that he's been a grade-A tool in his time too.

He's certainly grown up a lot in the last couple of years.  I honestly think a year in the MLS has bought him down to earth and made him likeable.

interesting that Defoe played and scored.  I saw him playing in the  Socceraid charity match last year and thought that must be it for him. Credit to him. Took his chance with both hands.

Fair play to Southgate for picking him on current form too.

Sorry but Defoe is a slightly better version of Darren Bent, he'll score goals all day long* but he's a man who will touch a ball 10 times a game, he does very little in terms of hold up play and influencing the game in general, that's why he was at Toronto and now at Sunderland, he'll score goals but do **** all else

* Defoe imho has always been a strange goal scorer at times he has a decent finish, at times he has good movement, however probably more often than not he looks like he just happens to hit the ball really **** hard and it's going in,p

in the grand scheme of things whatever he ends up with in terms of goals he won't be top level for me, kind of like Robbie Keane, lots of goals but not top draw

Obviously not a top level PL player, but Lasse Vibe at Brentford seems a very good player. Their fans seemed less concerned about losing Hogan because they still had Vibe

Woods at Brentford seems to get rave reviews as well
