Samuelson has been associated with "dodgy" stuff as has Hitchins but that doesn't mean: a) they are guilty of doing anything dodgy; b ) Xia is dodgy; or c) they are going the make Villa dodgy. Whilst it is pure speculation at this point, I think it was something like this: Xia has been looking for a club to buy. When he looks in Europe he comes across the business SocFin who were instrumental in the Mallorca purchase. They, being Englishman would probably know that Villa were on the market and were the ones who made contact with Hollis. Given Hollis has said there were a number of potential buyers it's clear we were finally getting marketed right and that the price was becoming better (whilst the infrastructure is good, the personnel is shocking and is a liability rather than an asset). As such Samuelson was probably instrumental in showing Hollis that Xia was the buyer he wanted. Hollis and Lerner, to their credit, wanted to give the club to someone who looks after it. For all Lerners fault, he has maintained he was a "custodian" and all his flowery language to me says he has some respect for tradition. Anyway Samuelson has a history of bringing money to clubs. Not always work granted (Reading) but that's his job. He is a middle man. Now Xia may have his own men but as Lerner has shown doesn't necessarily work (Krulak). He needs football people, what's the point of running a football club if you don't know about football?! So Samuelson maybe suggests Kendrick, a known football CEO. Now Hitchins. They have set up a shell company. That is all it is. As has been said it is normal for them to be formal directors initially and then resign when the formal directors owners come on board. If people have looked at the initial documents you will see that actually Hitchins is the only shareholder of Recon Sports Limited with a shareholding of £1. I anticipate this to change very quickly as now the shell company needs to be a formal company. The point is people need to stop worrying so much. Yes there are some not great things on the Internet, but it's important to remember that they ALL need to pass fit and proper test to be directors. In addition the strong back room staff to RDM to me shows strong commitment already. That, whilst not the be all and end all, is a big step towards it. There has been a lot of promises from Xia. He has bought the club. Now is the time for him to show us whether he can be true to word or not. We will know VERY quickly if he is not. Where there was no hope, there's now hope. Where there was nothing there's something. I genuinely think Lerner could have got more for Villa, but I think the went with the one that could give the most back to Villa rather than the most money to Lerner. And besides do you really believe everything on the Internet? Now can we at get onto the transfer speculation and who's getting the boot please? His 'role' was a concession when Lerner bought us, I wonder if it was in anyway mentioned in sales discussions. Same question could also be asked of our relationship with Acorns, I sincerely hope it's maintained to at least the same strength it has been in previous years.
