I think it simply means an international (or former international), rather than "one of the world's best players". Well there you go. Since when has being an international footballer been anything close to world class. Itl be the Dr with one of his wild statements.

Jay.P.A
Might be the wrong Hernandez. Might be Javier Hernández
Popular Post Gary Thomas
Probably a sign how well things have gone that we could potentially have McCormack and Hernandez as our two main strikers next week and people suggesting our wonderful owner might get stick because he used the wrong word in a tweet! Does it really matter - McCormack and Hernandez would be bloody fantastic - both prolific and know the league. Popular Post Jareth Posted August 21, 2016 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted August 21, 2016 Yes to echo previous points made, if we poo poo the signing of someone like hernandez because they are not 'world class' as the common man understands the phrase, then it's open season for fans of any other club to call us deluded.
It's Your Round
Wasn't Ashley Young the last world class player we had? According to O'Neill.
Dr_Pangloss
Hernandez would be absolutely excellent. He's very quick and very sharp in front of goal, exactly what we need if we're going to play McCormack off a forward.

jon_c
People on here might be OK with it. But I can guarantee that your average football fan will be very disappointed with Hernandez if they were told to expect a world class player. And I'm sure Dr Tony knows exactly the implication of that phrase. He may however genuinely believe that the player is of that level. I mean some people thought that of players like Barry Bannan and Micah Richards. And Hernandez is much better than that.
