Nigel Posted December 22, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted December 22, 2015 Id say the last thing we need is another 'nice guy'!
KJT123
Wouldn't be against signing him at all, he's a good player, but can't see him fitting in with our 'philosophy'. Young, up-and-coming, continental manager joins us and signs...Steven Naismith.
Nigel Posted December 22, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted December 22, 2015 He signed an aging local in Malbranque when he was at Lyon, bit of a success too!

screwdriver
Get him in at least he is proven in the prem. Unlike Gestede and the other chuff they bought in the summer. I see Naismith as more of a number 10 than a goal scorer so we still could do with a charlie Austin.

LondonLax
I think a lot of you will be shocked with the types of players we can attract in our current state. Get him in if he will come.
supernova26
He's not bad picked up quite a few points in my Fantasy Football team last season. Plays with intensity and can create. Not liking the price though. 6.5 million for an Everton cast-off? £4 million and I'd take him.
Popular Post dont_do_it_doug.
Very surprised at the reaction in this thread. Piddling around worrying about the money is beyond us now, who gives a shit. Those who don't rate him as a player, well, I think you may have been watching a different player to me. He'd do well at clubs much, much higher up the food chain than us. At the very least he would put in.
VillaChris
How long does he have left on his contract out of interest? I did baulk at 6-7m. Ultimately the club has been burnt so many times having to write off transfer fees and it will be difficult to see us recouping much of that if he stays here for a season or two. Byram sounds a sensible move though, he's been linked before hasn't he? We have to be realistic of our situation so being players who have experience of that division isn't the worst move, he's a good player aswell. This. It's annoying me that people keep calling him a striker. Somebody in the transfer thread said he didn't fit into our system. He's not a striker. He plays attacking midfield/forward and plays off the left. Every game I've seen him play for Everton he has played off the left. He basically plays the position Sinclair plays for us, but better. He wouldn't be the best signing in the world but I think he'd definitely improve us. £6.5m seems a but steep to me for his age and ability, but it's January.

Those two things should be a given in pretty much all footballers anyway. Don't think he'd be the worst signing ever, but If we do sign him, I hope we're still targeting another striker(he might not be an out and out striker, but he'd play as part of a front three or two) with a reputation for scoring goals, possibly a loan deal. I'd still be surprised if we're actually after him, probably newspaper talk. Edited December 23, 2015 by useless
lexicon
Garde values work rate and pressing highly, so I can see some mileage in this link. He's nothing special but could definitely work for us - as said above, we still need a striker though.
Keyblade
Omg is this a real link? The guy is pretty much Everton's MOTM every time he plays, yetsome of us don't want him as if we're not the bottom club 10 points adrift . I think he would be the perfect foil for Ayew up front. AvfcTheObsession
Quite like him after originally not rating him. For 6.5m there is better out there though, be happy if we got him for 3-4m.
AshVilla
I'm sure if we offered 4 mill more QPR would probs sell Austin him wanting to come here is doubtful though
dont_do_it_doug.
I'm sure if we offered 4 mill more QPR would probs sell Austin him wanting to come here is doubtful though One is a striker, the other a left sided attacking mid. It won't be one or the other, that would make no sense at all.
