There is a demographic here that has become radicalized by 30 years of right wing propaganda and gun deregulation. It might be an unpopular opinion, but I also think video games like Call of Duty have been a factor in this phenomenon. A big reason why I've gravitated away from American sports over the years is because of the almost pornographic public displays of jingoism after Sept 11 2001 at stadia. You can have any gun you like to defend against some British attempt to reconquer America, so long as it was made on or before the ratification of the 2nd amendment.
