Remember when shooting someone in the back was considered an act of utmost cowardice?

Now is seems to be celebrated if you're shooting "the right sort" in the eyes of some.

Doctor shares startling reminder guns are leading cause of death for children and teens in US
An analysis of US Centers for Disease Control data published last week showed guns remained the leading cause of death among children in the US in 2021.

They need to start giving those kids guns so they can defend themselves.

Kids without guns can’t defend themselves from other kids with guns.

Option 1: Get rid of the guns

Option 2: Give people without guns a gun.

We know the road they’ll take.

I don't understand how a RW gun toting pro lifer squares this.  Don't worry brain, you can push through this glitch.  Re write some shit in your head and off you go.

There's a huge problem with that option, how do you defend yourself if you don't have a gun? A better option would be to make everyone own at least one gun per decade of life. And maybe also ensure a variety in the gun types, so no more than two handguns, shotguns, sub machine guns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, air defence systems or tanks. That's how to make America safe.

I wonder how far down the scale of "civilised" countries you would need to go to get a higher death rate from guns than the US?

Or are they literally the worst in the world? Worse than the most chaotic civil war ravaged country?

Well, safer than the U.S. if you’re worried about being shot dead would be… Mexico and South Africa.

Good article on socialised narcissism behind gun violence in the USA ...

Quote

Why is this happening? What are we missing? Guns and anomie and extremism are only facets of the problem. The real malady afflicting these men, one about which I’ve written much in the intervening years since that original article, is the deluge of narcissism in the modern world, especially among failed-to-launch young men whose injured grandiosity leads them to blame others for their own shortcomings and insecurities—and to seek revenge. ...The lost boys are mostly young and male, largely middle- or working-class. Frustrated by their own social awkwardness, they are so often described as “loners” that the trope has been around from as early as the 1980s. But these young males, no matter how “quiet,” are filled with an astonishing level of enraged resentment and entitlement about their roles as men, and they seek rationalizations for inflicting violence on a society they think has both ignored and injured them. They become what the German writer Hans Magnus Enzensberger called “radical losers,” unsuccessful men who feel that they have been denied their dominant role in society and who then channel their blunted male social impulses toward destruction.

It was only a matter of time before mass gun slaughter came to Maine. As of right now, at least 16 dead but expected to rise.

3 locations in Lewiston (small city where the Clay-Liston fight was).

Lewiston is home for many Somalis. The shooter is white male ex-army.

Would not surprise me if he targeted Somalis.

One of the locations was a bowling alley having a youth night.

My sister knows someone whose sister was shot but survived.

Maine is a very small state, so this will touch a lot of people.

Meanwhile, the killer is on the loose.

"Freedom".
