bose Posted August 22, 2015 Share Posted August 22, 2015 I've said it before, Bacuna is not good enough. He'll get a few assists but his overall play is just poor. I also get a nervous feeling when Guzan has the ball, I get the feeling he's very nervous as well. We probably can't afford to replace him because we've got much more pressing issues. Gabby is a joke like everyone seems to know except the people that matter at Villa. We need a striker. The one good thing is that this team will get better with time. A draw would have been a decent result and we had it barring a suicidal moment from Guzan. Good win over Notts County and good win against Sunderland and we'll be fitter and starting to roll. Ok, Amavi makes a mistake but it happens, can't say we weren't lucky to get the equaliser. Don't get the Guzan blame at all. He played it to a Villa player who had time to take a bad touch. He was trying to start a quick counter attack for the win. What would be the point of smashing it down field to an ineffectual Gabby and Gestede? No blame for Guzan on that one, think some people just like to target him these days. In the off season all we have done is spread any quality we had more evenly around the team, losing great players but upgrading poor ones. So now we are team of average players instead of a rubbish one with a few stars. However, it just means we will are still going to struggle this season and every season until we bring up the squad as a whole - and that's never going to happen when you can only spend money made from player sales. It is clear to everyone we need a striker. Even Sherwood. So he's tried bargain hunting in Gestede and Ayew and tried praying that Gabby steps up finally. Both are, at best, gambles. A loan attempt for Adebayor shows Sherwood realises we are short. Lerner needs to spend a little bit of cash on a more likely source of goals and it seems the best realistic target should be Austin. Pardew changed the game at half time and Sherwood never reacted, Traore looked good and did exceptionally for the goal. A definite threat for the opposition. Grealish looked good but faded, and will link well with Gil and Traore. Gabby was atrocious and needs dropping, Gestede didn't pose a threat. Desperately need a quality striker in. We will be fine if we spend every penny we have on a consistent goal scorer. Gabby stealing a salary Gestede had a couple of good chances but didn't get close. Guzan unconvincing again, kicking and general distribution is dreadful. Grealish good at times. Bacuna - talented but dumb. Makes awful decisions would rather he not play. Gives away corners and free kicks for fun. Clark - ok. Handled things. Richards - solid, like his leadership. Amavi - a couple of nice runs, but total mentor error led to their winner. He looked shaken by it but i hope it doesnt lead to him getting shy, we need his aggression. Westwood - needs to sit and observe gana and sanchez fight in midfield, simply no bite to his game these days and no leadership. If he is going to start and continue being a passenger in the middle of the park he needs to deliver on deadballs but his service was dreadful. One good ball to gabby... Sanchez - no idea why he came off. Broke up play well and changed field well. Gana - solid. Like the guy, feel bad for him compensating for ashley being lazy. grealish - talented but selfish. Look up son, you have teammates. Gabby - if only you could finish...thought he should have come out for adama. Gestede - starved, won what he could up top. Decent holding up the ball.
