It's a fair point that the money he had available was not the best, but the same can be said for Moyes during he's years at Everton.

Instead of buying 1-2 quality players and slowly improving the squad over time he went with the the quantity route bringing in bang average players which get's you nowhere.

Remember that run when we could not stop conceding to set pieces? One of those losing to millwall in the cup?

The guys a bumbling nation and yes the Bradford result was the worst ive felt. That and the enkleman lowest points

I've never forgive him for the Bradford farce

I think it all boils down to Lerner stopping the money tbh.

Tell Mourinho or Pep that they have to replace players like Ashley Young, Downing, Petrov, Dunne etc etc with about 15 million over 2 seasons and see where he'd end up.

Take the money out of any club and see where they end up.

The biggest thing I can level at Lambert is that he just looked like he wanted to cry all the time after a certain point, which obviously reflects on the squad, creating a losing mentality, when a stronger manager would at least have his troops fighting for everything (see Neil Warnock kinda thing).

I don't dislike Lambert, or Lerner or anyone else for that matter.  If the football is offending you, stop watching it and come back when it's entertaining again.

The football was pants, but I put that down to money again.

I think he did well keeping us up as long as he did, but as mentioned, his final season here... he just gave up, and so did the players.

TIM TO THE RESCUE!

(Oooo, I do dislike Tim Sherwood, ha, sometimes I surprise myself).

(although, that semi final was fun).

I picked a random match from our 13-14 season. This season Lambert was in charge the full year and kept us in the league.

Cardiff - Aston Villa

November November 9th, 2013

Final score 2-0 Villa

Line-up: Guzan, Bacuna, Vlaar, Clark, Baker, Westwood, El Ahmadi, Sylla, Tonev, Benteke, Kozak

Subs: Helenius, Herd, Bowery, Lowton, Johnson, Robinson, Steer

Look how dreadful that line-up is.

Jesus Christ. That's not even as bad as it got. Look at this one from when we beat Liverpool in December before that dreadful run.

Starting XI: Guzan, Lowton, Baker, Clark, Lichaj, Westwood, Herd, Holman, Bannan, Benteke, Weimann

Those players had already been gone for a season before Lambert rocked up. Dunne was still on the books but was having 'off the field issues' () and never played under Lambert.

1st thing Lamberk did was push James Collins out of the club who to this day is a mid table prem player. He just couldn't manage 'bigger' players (see Bent.) I think he wanted bargain basement players because they looked up to him and were thankful. Anyone with any pedigree he was scared of as they probably saw through him.

Or, the more likely and less presumptive scenario that we simply couldn't afford anybody with any pedigree.

So why the bomb squad for the players who were on the books who had pedigree?
Bent, Given, Hutton, N'zogbia and others (can't stand N'Zogbia but even Sherwood managed to get some sort of tune out of him.)

Collins was pushed out. I had a long chat with Kendrick about JC who said he really wanted to make a go of it. I watched him in pre-season training and he looked very committed.

A lot of those players were taking the Mick with some of their performances.  The bomb squad was championed on here.

Young and hungry was nodded along with too.

Show how much most of us lot know :D

Benteke and weimann won that game for us.

i think our current strongest team would give that team a game

Close to being Lambert's first Stoke signing:

That infamous Bundesliga knowledge we never benefitted from ;)

He was at Fulham few seasons back, looked decent going forward but a hothead

Remember when we wanted Lewis Holtby before he went to Spurs and we obtained that superscout Michael Henke to find us the best Bundesliga talent. And found us absolutely no-one in his time at club

He lasted about 2 months :D

Paul Lambert says Stoke set to sign Kostas Stafylidis imminently

Lambert first signing imminent

Paul Lambert says Stoke expect Kostas Stafylidis to join the club on-loan from Augsburg on Thursday.

Paul Lambert says Stoke expect Kostas Stafylidis to join the club on-loan from Augsburg on Thursday

Paul Lambert expects Stoke to complete the loan signing of defender Kostas Stafylidis from Augsburg on Thursday.

Sky Sports News understands the Greece international was at the Stoke training ground on Wednesday evening to undergo a medical before sealing his move from the Bundesliga club.

Stafylidis will become Lambert's first signing following his arrival at the Bet 365 stadium and he expects the 24-year-old to inject a new lease of life into his struggling Stoke side.

Man Utd 3-0 Stoke

"Hopefully that'll go through, I think he's a really good left-back and I think he's got loads of energy which I think we need," said Lambert.

"It puts competition into the team which I think is really important, so he's going to come here and hopefully everything goes OK.

"He'll be in competition with the other lads but I think that's important to generate and hopefully later on today that'll go through."

Transfer Talk: Who leads Sanchez race?

Will Manchester United beat Chelsea to the signing of Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez? The Transfer Talk panel discuss.

Stoke host Huddersfield on Saturday, but Lambert was unsure whether Potters' fans would get a glimpse of their latest addition as he needs to assess the player before making a decision on whether he can play.

"I have to see how fit he is and how he's feeling himself, he's not played for a couple of months, I think his last game came against Bayern [Munich]," he added.

Lambert says it was a pleasant coincidence that Stafylidis was one of the club's targets upon his arrival as he was already aware of the player having watched him train in Germany.

"It's funny how football works, I was in Augsburg watching him train, it was really nice of them to let me in to watch," said Lambert.

"I think he trained that day, but I never paid too much significance into individual players, it was more just to watch the team train and see what they do.

"The club had been following him for a little bit and I watched him myself and I thought he looked very good."

So he admits he wasn't watching individual players just the team but claims to know about the player?

Sounds like typical Lambert

He did badly here, and was right to be sacked/leave at the end, but he was completely hampered by Lerner (especially with hindsight).  Our most expensive signing over 3 seasons of Lambert was Benteke at just shy of £8m.  Second most expensive was Libor Kozak at £5.9m.  By comparison:

Ross McCormack - £12.9m
Jonathan Kodija - £11.6m
Scott Hogan - £9.5m (with add ons)
James Chester - £8.3m

...whilst in the Championship.  Now obviously transfer fees have increased but, really, did we even want to be a Premier League club back then?  Staggering.

We spent more in 1 championship season (where we finished 13th) than we did in Lambert's 3 PL seasons combined. That is just staggering.

Looking back, it's a miracle we even stayed up once, let alone e 3 times (and that miracle is probably called Benteke tbh).
