Why Paul Lambert should get the sack

RS never cracked a smile when we were successful.  :)

I do think we need longevity of five to ten years under one manager, it will help enormously to have a proper system in place. People are currently fawning over Everton, but equally Moyes did build a very healthy club to inherit over a long period. I keep saying this but we need to bear with this difficult spell and get through it, better days lie ahead for the club.

tickled me when i heard the story about Ron walking past an architect who was at Villa Park appraising some prospective work, The architect broke off to enter in to some small talk and was criticising one of our players.

Ron had him dismissed from the project.

I suppose RS would dismiss one or two posters on this forum for there needless negativity about Villa.

I am sure I read a while back that Tottenham had a wage structure (for individual players) that did not exceed forty grand a week.

Must of been before Redknapp!

I think it was before they made the Champions League under HR. But it shows our rivals were very strict about fiscal responsibility and getting value for money, while we were wasting a lot of money and talent.

My opinion (sorry if it's a long post): It's all well and good just sacking another manager - but when he's just bought half a new squad but who's going to replace them and do a good job with the SAME RESOURCES? I personally like Lambert. I don't pretend to know all the politics and what not but he's obviously working under a strict budget and a new set of rules that are restructuring the club or whatever. To be honest i do think he could have the balls to say when his team could and should have played better or he got tactics wrong or whatever because its the same post match analysis week in week out now. "couldn't fault the effort… thought we deserved something." and were all thinking "No SH*T".

ALSO he seems adamant to stick to the same tactics and our opposition have blatantly figured them out. Benteke gets bullied up there, plus he's getting injured and all that. He could do with some support up front alongside him at least till he scores again (Weimann). Were playing poorly at home, and whilst we are picking up some results away the recent losses have been awful and its better to win in front of 40,000 fans rather than 5000 etc. The stoke game was… awful to say the least. Savage (BBC) said the other day that the only reason Villa are safe this season is because of the 3 other teams struggling in the relegation zone (at the moment) this season and i have to admit if we don't improve or change something then that could be us quite easily. I think we need another CB (Vlaar keeps getting injured) because we need solid partnership week in week out, and i don't think Clark and Baker are currently strong enough. And a CDM. Sure we have a fair few midfielders but they're neither a CAM or a CDM - they don't have a specialist position, so to speak, and i think we need that.

BUT, that having been said Paul Lambert can only work with what he's got. SO despite the fact that i may have criticized him in the above i think he's worth keeping. We have to remember he's clearly got a tight budget to work with and its not every week you can find a player that bags 20 goals in a season, puts strikers in their pockets and threads a ball through the eye of a needle from 20 yards. He seems to be building a squad and plans for the long term, hence the young and cheap players nobody has heard of, so i think he should be allowed to carry that out at least a while longer considering he's already started. Also some people on here have stated that some ITK's (hairyhands?) are close with lambert and reckon he's going to bring in a much needed CAM in january? - If that happens then at least he's changing something and has recognized flaws in the team.

Anyways we all know what needs to be improved and all that. So let's see if Lambert does something about it. Its unfair to sack him now, halfway through his plans. Its a tough job and I think could any other manager really do better? Bare in mind he's just one man that takes a lot of responsibility in a big club. Im curious to see what he can do but ultimately success is most important and i hope he delivers. UTV!!

This team of ours can change our opinion from almost game to game. That is the measure of inconsistency we are dealing with and Paul Lambert must feel at times he is dealing with a kindergarten.

The resilience they showed last season after the 3 big defeats on the bounce was phenomenal, despite the schoolboy type errors, they are capable of bouncing back, which is a feature of this strange at times, team.

I do hope a change of heart can be mustered and a few " good pro's" can be found..I don't mean over inflated mercenaries on meal tickets I mean well intentioned honest pro's who can galvanise and organise some of the naivety and discord we show at times.

Our lads are capable of showing good energy at times( not for a while), but they also lose focus when teams with older heads out think them... their composure goes and then it spreads to disorganisation and it all has a knock on effect.

I am not privvy to the elements that surround the Barry factor but it does seem like it was a missed opportunity. I was not in favour at first, but I'm having second thoughts.

The board must also be careful of not taking a hammer to crack a nut..... we have bought some horrendous shite over the last few years and my heart goes out to the folk who have the task of clearing it all up.... but they wasn't all bad players, most were a  minority wasn't, so lets look at it on merit... and learn.

Bacuna 800k

Luna 1.5 euro

Kozak 5.5m euro

Helenius 1m euro

Tonev 1.5m euro

Okore 4m euro

Not much over £10m and all wages under 15k a week!

Clearly building for a push in the Championship next season with that

40k is a bit more than 15k.Your right though Modric was on less then we were paying Beye ...

Darrenm, I take it Faulkner who confirmed Lambert has spent £43m also made himself look stupid right?

And seriously? You'd back a manager who takes us down? Embarressing really...

No, Faulkner hasn't confirmed that the transfers in this summer were any more than Lambert has stated. It's a lot more complicated than that.

And yes I would, I don't think he will, but I can see the bigger picture. It's OK if you can't.

Explain how then Mr know-it-all...

I don't know it all. I certainly know that it isn't as simple as £43m must be all on headline transfer figures. There are loads of other factors such as differences in terminology, different time references, extraneous fees, swamp tax, etc. which would be in the bottom line but would be of no consequence to Lambert as a manager's headline transfer fee.

An example outside of football. You buy a house for £200,000. The house has cost you £200,000 and that's what you tell everyone and is the accepted figure. Is that the money you've actually paid out? Of course not, you've also had to pay solicitor's fees, stamp duty, mortgage arrangement fees, surveyor fees, everything. You've bought a house for £200,000, but £230,000 has left your pocket. Your bank manager (Faulkner) confirms that you're £230,000 less well off, but you still only paid £200,000 for your new house.

As I say, I'm not in finance, but that all seems fairly obvious to me.

You clearly aren't in finance and obviously know nothing about the subject whatsoever.  Before you go around accusing people of embarrassing themselves, you might want to put a sock in it yourself.

But this is exactly what was in the breakdown by Pez, who claims to be an accountant. Are you saying that how I've bought all my houses is wrong? Or are things done differently on the isle of man?

Anyway, Merry Christmas. Nice to be doing something constructive on Christmas eve eh?

But we will beat palace and everything will look so much better again lol

To some fans yes....some others look a bit deeper.

I don't. I react with equal delight or rage depending on whether we win or lose. No deep thinking for me. :)

And HairyHands has a plan B now we failed miserably to eve nlook like that was a possibility?

If Lambert goes, who's the new manager going to buy? Because to me it's clear as day that the problem lies in the lack of quality we have.

Ugggh I hate Boxing Day
