Blatter's press conference showing that he's madder than a bag of cats.

Seems like the Gazza story, doesn't have anyone around him to give him a bit of advice to just leave it now. Maybe he's just too stubborn.

He looked old and frail,  I'm not sure he'll see 2016 out if he carries on.

I think that's what Platini tried to do, but look where it's got him.  He is an utter despot in cloud cuckoo land.

very much doubt it, depends on the contracts they sign when awarding the tournaments

in some sense i think blatters punch bag comments arent far off, im of the opinion that they've got rid of them pair due to popular demand (and the more obvious reason that they're guilty as ****...) and are now waiting for everything to die down so they can carry on as normal, blatter's gone, a new president elected and everything will be ok at FIFA... i dont think they realise that ships sailed, they need a complete overhaul

It'll be interesting to see what happens next. These two have been on the take for decades and the game has been rotten to its core - but the world was quite happy to let it go for most of that time and sit on the same gravy train as everyone else - whether they pushed it too far, or whether they upset the wrong people or whether time just caught up with them was debatable - their guilt has never really been in doubt, but the timing has - why now rather than in the nineties?

Who fills this vacuum will be interesting and I have a feeling that the worlds biggest TV show is about to more formally controlled by the companies that own it - the TV networks, Nike and Adidas. Blatter is a crook, but he has been forever - this to me has a hint of a coup about it. Control of the game is moving from dusty old corrupt Europe and South America to the corporate United States. I wonder that what that will mean for us going forward.

The King is dead; long live the King ltd?

The same thing happened to the New York mafia. As soon as the US government realised they weren't getting a slice they shut it down .

it's that scene in Casino where all the mob run casino's are being pulled down and De Niro's character is romanticising a bygone golden age (of corruption and crime). I wonder if we'll find ourselves doing the same in a decade as the third quarter of the wild card playoff in the Nike World Cup starts to reach the red zone.

when sepp said that the original agreement was for the 2022 WC to go to the USA and it went to Qatar, that was the moment back in 2010 the U.S. decided to look at all those millions going through there banks I reckon.

Yep. If the 22 WC had gone to the USA none of this would have happened.

Qatar was a bridge too far.

It'll all come out about our FA soon. The Premiership got well out of hand years ago. Its all about the money not the sport.

Hopefully it'll emerge that some of the teams are guilty of foul play off the field, get kicked out of the league (and Villa survive as a result :D)

I expect Villa to be guilty but like most things we were so bad at corruption that it just went unnoticed

It'll probably emerge Ayew was signed illegally and we can no longer play him...

Money > football > fans

It's the opposite of where it should be, I find the conspiracy theory of corporate America waking up and dragging football to where it wants it to be very interesting

If you ask me the whole world of football is corrupt, how can the clubs justify what modern footballers are paid to do what in the end of the day is a dream job for many people! When you see the houses they live in, and the lifestyles they are living whether they are performing well or not you have to wonder what their motivations are. Our players are earning a fortune and living ridiculously comfortably whatever happens. If i dont perform in my job there is a very good chance I will be let go, no huge payout, nothing, then I see images like the ones in this story and it makes me sick, Footballers homes

There is a picture of Ashley Wards home I have seen some of his before and I know his wife does housewives of something or other but he wasnt a superstar footballer at a time when they werent earning that much either,he must have made money elsewhere?

What do you guys think of an American stlye wage cap? I know there is an issue in Europe with human rights or something which says you cannot cap the wage of an individula but surely a cap on the club whihc  we kind of have now would work. Not pro rata but literally a total wage allowance per club which is standard for the division not based on income?!
