chrisp65
There aren’t many meals that don’t get some celery in this house! Get through a crown of celery a week. Oh, and cauliflower curry is just brilliant.
Davkaus
Celery is pretty gross raw, but shines as part of a sofrito or mirepoix, it's an essential to have in the fridge, IMO. Cauliflower is just an all round winner, in curries, roasted, so many nice ways to have it. Cauliflower rice is not one of them though, that shit can get in the bin. Potatoes, carrots, onions... even some of the green ones I don't mind - sprouts, asparagus, peas, runner beans, etc. As sides to meat, obviously. And I'd eat them first to get them out of the way, before moving on to the actual food. It's eating leaves that I really don't get. Lettuce is just chewy water, and pointless. Cabbage is pretty nasty unless sliced very thinly and fried with garlic and bacon to disguise its... leafiness. I'll eat it, but treated as medicine, no real pleasure in it. But **** ing spinach, well... that stuff is pure green vomit. The smell alone triggers my gag reflex. Given that I don't much like curries, the idea of spinach curry is my ultimate nightmare. 2
Popular Post Mark Albrighton Posted May 16, 2022 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted May 16, 2022 I think the studies surrounding spinach is quite damning. It was found that those whose diet largely revolved around spinach would develop a strange speaking manner, become dependent on tobacco, be prone to acts of violence in order to solve conflict and deploy a patriarchal dominance in their relationships, whereby their partner would be treated like property. The whole thing reeked of toxic masculinity. Whereas the same study found those who avoided spinach had a much more amiable outlook on life, they were far more easy going. Admittedly this would often lead to a rather lacklustre approach to paying for goods -particularly other foodstuffs - in a timely fashion. But they would gladly provide remuneration by the following week, (typically Tuesday). Or so they would say. 5

BOF Posted May 17, 2022 Moderator Share Posted May 17, 2022 And actually probably my favourite spinach dish, Palak Gosht. I make a mean one, if I do say so myself.

It’s the only repair i’ve had to get done on my car in 3 years so can’t complain.

Best sandwich. Better than crisps sandwiches. 1
