Moussa Sissoko’s agent hopes Newcastle will be “reasonable” and let him leave the club this summer for much less than their reported £35million asking price.

Sissoko, who has been linked with Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool, was arguably France’s best player in their extra-time Euro 2016 final defeat to Portugal and his solid performances throughout the tournament has meant added interest in the midfielder this summer.

However, the Magpies – who were relegated from the Premier League last season – seem reluctant to let him go on the cheap and reportedly want a fee in the region of £35million.

The player’s agent claims that Newcastle promised to let Sissoko depart this summer for around half the rumoured asking price.

“We do not understand Newcastle. We agreed last year that Moussa would stay for one more year to help the team. He has given his all for the club,” the midfielder’s representative told Foot Mercato.

“We never even talked about a higher asking price. The club always said they would allow Moussa to leave for a fee between €18 million and €25m.

“We hope Rafa Benitez and Newcastle will be more reasonable again so we can resolve Moussa’s future. He has always been loyal and respectful toward the club.

“There are clubs that have approached us and Newcastle. We hope everything goes well.”

Hopefully this drags on all summer :)

Agreed Demitri.  Usually I hate transfer sagas, but in this case I'll make an exception.  A quick resolution is not what I want here :D

They need to get in the real world, do they really expect Newcastle to let him go for £10m-£15m less than they think they can get for him, just to help him out?

If the agent knew what he was doing he'd have gotten his player a new contract last year with the release cause written into it. He's finding out now that his verbal agreement is not worth the papwer its written on.

Those players were part of the reason why newcastle were relegated. Newcastle want them to stay with the club and help with promotion unless they can get stupid money for them. Sissoko has a contract till 2019 I believe and Wijnaldum till 2020. Newcastle has no reason to sell if they think those players can help their side.

neither of them pulled up any trees last season either and reasons they are down, Wijnaldum I dont think even scored a goal away from home and Sissoko got 1 goal and both didnt look arsed at times

So a very reasonable £17.5m then.

For Sissoko. Clubs will be queuing up.

If Newcastle sell Sissoko and Wijnaldum, they will have over £50m to play with.

Newcastle's Georginio Wijnaldum: Everton and Spurs also keen

LIVERPOOL have targeted Newcastle's Georginio Wijnaldum in their search for midfield reinforcements and will look to complete a deal that could cost £20million.

Thats fine as its going to be very hard if not impossible to find players willing to drop down that would destroy that league like those two would

Just as they trolled their own fans last season?

Some of them, maybe. Shelvey wasn't there the whole year, Ritchie and Gayle have just joined. Mitrovic is one of a handful of players who performed well for them. Then the addition by subtraction with Taylor/Coloccini. I'd be shocked if they don't win it.
