Yacouba Sylla

Bannan has been doing very well and is the kind of player that is the future of football. Sylla is the player for a role that is becoming extinct (Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Everton, Tottenham, Arsenal, Swansea - no regular specialist defensive mid).

Edit: except Ramires for Chelsea.

This Sylla boy will be useful for us, especially right now in a relegation fight, but unless he can demonstrate an ability to pass and shoot like Dembele he will be rotated with a more offensive player when the occasion demands.

:D The future of football. Jesus you must be sleeping with him or something. He's shite.

I know absolutely nothing about Sylla and have never seen him play but I am 100% certain that he's better than at least half the midfielders we have at the club. Get him in the team for everton and see if he's the saviour that can keep us up!!!

Quietly optimistic about Sylla.

If we can get a midfield of Sylla, Westwood and Stephens together, with them all being of similar ability, then that'll be a good base to build on for the future.

Yacouba certainly has the attributes we were after in midfield so I'm trying to be quietly optimistic about this signing. Given the above, there's a good chance he will improve our midfield.

I've said for a long time we need an athletic, tough-tackling player in the centre and by all accounts he fits that bill.

I don't think Stephens wants to come unless he gets the money he wants which is more than we want to pay him.

Gary Gardner might be fit next year and Stephens won't want to have his career stall on the Villa bench.

not saying Sylla's gonna be mint coz ive never heard of him either but does anyone remember that young kid we signed who never went on to do anything in his career here or elsewhere that graham taylor took a punt on even though he played for some shit part time club on trinidad somewhere. Talk about a nowhere club in a nowhere league. Hadnt even scouted him just saw him play against us in a friendly I believe. Nightmare. Never played in a top league and he was like 15 or something!! what a stupid idea that was.

much rather we signed players with prem league experience like Djemba Djemba - Beye - Heskey - Warnock - Hutton - Shorey - Jenas - Ireland......zzzzzzzzzz

you are aware when graham taylor signed him he did not do anything of any note for the next 5 years? and that at that time you could still grab decent players such as david platt from lower leagues?

yeah, just making the point (albeit sarcastically) that it doesn't really matter where they come from. aimed at those saying sylla must be crap coz i don't know the club we've bought him off.

Mark Delaney played for Carmarthen Town for instance and I doubt many feel he was a bad signing or not good enough even though he spent less than a season at Cardiff before we snapped him up. I'm sure League deux is of higher standard than the league of wales.

If this guy is going to be the hard tackling battler we need in the middle of the park, surely he needs an appropriate song in his honour?

Yacouba, woh oh,

Yacouba, woh oh.

He came from Clermont Foot,

To kick your **** butt!

I think the much simpler, "Sylla, Sylla, Sylllaaaaaaaaa" a la Villa chant is more fitting.

I'm not the only one that thinks/hopes he makes his debut tomorrow? Reckon Lambert will chuck him straight in.

He might start on the bench but it would be best to let him start straight away imo. We have little games to go on and everton is a perfect match for him to start really.
