Thought he picked up a medal even though he didn't play in the Final as he had accumulated sufficient games in the competition.

Apologies, he might have played in the earlier rounds.

Still, I doubt he feels as though he truly "won" a major trophy.

Didn't find own topic for Given so I'll put this here:

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/8385557/Shay-Given-admits-he-may-have-left-Aston-Villa-if-they-had-not-enjoyed-good-cup-runs

Shay Given has admitted Aston Villa's cup success this season has stopped him from leaving the club.

Given, who is set to start Tuesday's Capital One Cup semi-final against Bradford, has lost his first-team spot to Brad Guzan this season with the cup competitions offering the former Republic of Ireland man the chance of starting games.

The 36-year-old admits he is not happy at playing second fiddle to Guzan, but insists he has no problem with Villa boss Paul Lambert's decision to drop him.

"It's difficult when you don't play," said Given. "It is the manager who picks the team and for me, when I get the chance, it's important I remind the manager that there is still plenty of life left in me and still plenty of years left ahead of me.

"I'm not used to this position but these cup games have been important. Had we been knocked out in the first round of the League Cup, I might not have been so happy. Sometimes you sulk about it and have bad days like all people do.

"I can't say I'm quite happy to sit on the bench because I'm not. I want to play football, but it's the manager's choice and I've just got to try and impress him every time I get a chance.

"But Wembley is touching distance away so hopefully there are quite a few games coming up and hopefully I'll play my part."

Given not played hardly of our manager fault, don't blame Given tonight.

He was so utterly shit I'm my not sure I see any reason to play him ever again. He looked like he was out of his depth against a team from the fourth division.

His performance last night reminded me of Adam Rachel coming on after Michael Oakes ghost sent off for handball about 16 years ago. Not attacking Adam there, but for a seasoned international, Given looked like a clueless rookie.

What exactly did Given do wrong?

Personally I thought he was fine and didn't really have a chance with any of the goals.

That's not to say I wouldn't prefer Guzan in the sticks, but I think it's harsh to say Given could really have done anything.
