These Iowa caucus result problems are a complete shitshow.

You have to appreciate how hard it is to nobble enough votes to make sure your candidate does believably well.

It probably isn't foul play. The thing about caucuses is that they aren't a secret ballot - everybody knows the result from their precinct before they go home. So a wide group of people, between them, *know* the results of the caucuses, which you would think would make it very difficult to falsify.

However, it certainly creates a space in which conspiracy theories are bound to grow, and it obviously doesn't help that the software company that made the app that went wrong have previously donated to Buttigieg's campaign, that the CEO has tweeted her love for Buttigieg before, and that a lot of the people working at the company are veterans of Hillary's campaign in 2016.

Meanwhile Republicans are out on the airwaves saying 'how can you think you can run a healthcare system when you can't run an election', hur hur hur.

It's crap like what is happening in Iowa that makes Trump look electable.  Whilst Schiff is giving the speech of his life in the impeachment proceedings talking about protecting democracy and the harsh eye that history will look back on this period with, his party is managing to look incompetent / corrupt / hypocritical whilst electing it's own leader.

I'm in no way equating the two parties, the Republicans have gone for the 100% corrupt, criminal, cheat, lie, steal approach and damn the consequences, but it would be nice if the Democrats could hold the line enough to not look like the party that wishes it could rig the system as blatantly as the Republicans, but don't have the balls to do it in the open.

It's the same everywhere.  In the UK, we've seen increased poverty and usage of food banks under a Conservative government, for example, but all anyone really cares about is that Diane Abbott can't count.

World is **** :D

1. DNC changes rules to allow billionaire Mike Bloomberg into debates.

2. Hillary Clinton allies begin floating brokered convention stories in light of the Sanders campaigns continued unacceptable success. Her, of course, would ride in to save the day!

3. Des Moines Register refuses to publish final poll, before voting on Tuesday. Sanders would be out front.

Observe pure democracy in action as carried out by the brave and valiant Democrats. It's in the name, see!

4. The DNC "fumble" the Iowa caucus. Just a coincidence of course.

Heard this am, that this might well be the death knell for the Iowa caucus process too. Bonus victory for the Dems as they'll no longer have to deal with any of those bothersome insurgent people lead campaigns ala Obama and Sanders. What luck!

No I did a little research into what is going on, and it just seems like it was terribly mishandled. The plan was to use an app that was developed specifically for this caucus to promote visibility, but the app was shit and they provided no instructions on how to use the app. So lots of people and precincts did it wrong or just didn't do it at all. Many were told to just take a photo of their choice, and send it to the headquarters but those apparently weren't valid. Some guy drove all the way to the headquarters to tell them his precinct's votes, but was turned away.

So yea basically a shit show, and it ended up being really close through all this. A couple of the delegates were decided via coin toss (lol) and Pete Buttigieg got lucky and got more delegates than he should have.

There are conspiracy theories saying this is rigged in Pete's favor, but I don't believe it. If this was rigged, there is no way a bunch of folks on twitter could figure it out by searching for 5 minutes. I really just think this is a bunch of old folks getting confused by technology and then being stubborn.

Meanwhile, there's the little-reported shocking news that Trump won the Republican caucus.   Not sure if anyone actually had to show up for that one or they just gave it to him because he was the only one allowed on the ballot.

Would have been much more enjoyable were it not for the shit show currently ongoing.

I assume you're supporting Bernie? If so, don't be down, don't see how the results could be much better. Even if you're not, let go the pain of the last 24 hours anyway, and enjoy the dual pleasures of Biden flopping and the Dems releasing all their Iowa results during Trump's State of the Union address.

Good evening IMO!

Trump is currently reprising Cilla Blacks 'Surprise Surprise' in the State of the Union Speech. The hilarious thing is the wife of the military guy he bought back from Afghanistan looks like he's the last person on earth she wants to see. They didn't even hug 🤣

Oh and he gave RUSH LIMBAUGH the Presidential Medal of Freedom. WTAF 🤯

So this is the democracy the whole world should strive to emulate?

It's utterly corrupt from top to bottom, the president is 6 year old and his kindergarten classmate is ripping up his painting behind his back while they are having a show and tell.

At the PTA meeting happening a couple blocks away they can't even get the coffee machine working or agree on if they want cake or death.

Their whole system is a joke even when adults are involved.
