My nipper is there at the moment (district 4 is just outside Flagstaff) and apparently is being stopped and asked about 10 times a day if she's registered to vote. They're really trying to get the Dem vote registered and voting. Not too much chance of the Dem turning over the sitting Rep, but they're giving it a big old go.

But yeah, Christmas lunch at the Gosar's big family gathering could be.... awkward.

A second woman has come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against President Donald Trump's US Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Michael Avenetti, a US lawyer known for representing adult film actress Stormy Daniels in her cases against President Trump, has alleged on Twitter that he is representing a third woman with "credible information" regarding Judge Kavanaugh and the alleged witness to Prof Ford's assault, Mark Judge.

Also, former girlfriend of Kavanaugh's buddy/co-assaulter/defender Mark Judge says he is lying when he denies there was a culture of "horseplay" at their prep school and that he told her of a time when he and others took advantage of a drunken girl.

If the Republicans continue to try to ram this through without any investigations they're gonna face some serious backlash in November.  It's becoming pretty clear that Kav has a history of sexual misconduct and on top of his apparent lies about all this, former Senator Russ Feingold has laid out some pretty compelling evidence that he lied under oath at a confirmation hearing a dozen years ago.   Too many Republicans have gone all in on Kavanaugh for them to be willing to admit they were wrong and vote against him.  And Trump will never admit a mistake and withdraw the nomination.  Ironically, a couple of the "moderate" Republicans like Collins or Murkowski may end up rescuing their colleagues by siding with the Democrats.

I think they'd have ditched him a while ago for any of the other, equally-vetted-by-the-Federalist-Society Roe-repealers waiting in the wings who could step in at a moment's notice, if it weren't imperative in the Trump era not to let accusations of historical sexual misconduct derail political careers (for obvious reasons). Like it or not (and you've got to think a lot of Republicans aren't actually thrilled) they're all in a boat captained by the groper-in-chief at this point.

The funny thing is, Gorsuch is a stolen seat, he's qualified but he's conservative so if the Dems were purely being political here then they would have done the same for him.

But they didn't. And it's all because Kavanaugh is the one in a thousand judge who thinks a sitting president can't be indicted.

That’s the crux of it. For Trump (and his supporters in the Republican Party) it has to be Kavanaugh because he will give Trump the cover he needs from the coming investigations.

They must have known he was compromised but thought it worth rushing through in any event.

Rod Rosenstein is resigning

Quote

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has verbally resigned to Chief of Staff John Kelly in anticipation of being fired by President Trump, according to a source with direct knowledge. Per a second source with direct knowledge: “He’s expecting to be fired,” so he plans to step down.

Well, crap.  Could spell the end of the Mueller investigation.

There are counter statements going around that he is expecting to be fired and won't resign, but either way it looks like he is going.  Having Rosenstein replaced was one of the red lines for many of the organizations preparing to protect the Mueller investigation.  We could be looking at some pretty big protests in the not too distant future if this proves to be true.

43 days until the mid terms.  Trump is giving every voter who is considering voting Democrat every reason to go our and vote against him.  It's almost like he is doing this to rile up the Democrat base and ensure that they vote in record numbers. I almost hope this is all true and Rosenstein is fired, it is one more step towards the end of Trump.

It might not be that at all. Read whole thread
