AValon
Listening to the commentary, I mainly heard positives about the guy. Can't wait for him to gel because he could do well here.
KjParton
Was at the game, he was alright, needs more time to gel into the defence, the whole defence needs more time tbh. He needs to time his jumps for headers a bit better, but other than that he seemed to pass the ball out of the defence well
TrentVilla Posted August 4, 2012 Moderator Share Posted August 4, 2012 Smetrov were you at the game? Judging Vlaar, ridiculous! No he wasn't.
SikhInTrinity
He got a view from his mate! Says it all, from what I'm hearing he played well, obviously more they train, the better they'll get.
Morkery
i was impressed, looked very composed. Great to see him going forward too, hes a beast. 100% certain hes a Villa legend in the making.
PieFacE Posted August 4, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted August 4, 2012 Far too early to judge him. Forest's second goal was a bit weird, from where I was it seemed a striker just walked through either Clark of Vlaar... was hard to see from where I was. Poor defending. Really can't say who it was though.
KjParton
Agreed - seemed to be a large gap between the two from my angle, need to see highlights really
KjParton
edit - Clark and Bannan at fault for the 2nd goal, both went rushing in to close him down and he just turned them and stroked it in the back of the net, Vlaar was over the other side
8pints
I'll tell you what, it may be wishful thinking, he seems to have a presence that you can feel in the stands.
mikeyp102
Anyone who saw sat, how does his pace look? From what people were saying before he signed, his pace may be suspect...with him and Clark (not particularly quick himself) may be a disadvantage when playing a fast strike force..(not that I'm trying to be negative)
Wainy316
He looked good first half, and he got the fans going every time he touched the ball.
8pints
He looks good but he'll need the right partner with him. I have good faith in Lambert that he'll choose the correct tactic
Amo69
I see Feyenord lost 1-0 tonight. Wonder how much they missed our new boys.

8pints
What are his clearances like? He kicks it Vlaar away. (My six year old cousin told me that)
BigCarew
Anyone who saw sat, how does his pace look? From what people were saying before he signed, his pace may be suspect...with him and Clark (not particularly quick himself) may be a disadvantage when playing a fast strike force..(not that I'm trying to be negative) One instance, he was up against Ishmael Miller by the touchline whilst Vlaar was backing off, Miller played the ball past him but Vlaar read it and got his body in the way. Miller isnt the slowest player either and is quite powerful... so positioning wise that was spot on against a faster opponent. As a centre half I dont think its majorly important to have so much pace, more so if your a full back.
AVFCforever1991
I see Feyenord lost 1-0 tonight. Wonder how much they missed our new boys. What their Captain and their main midfield engine? Probably missing them quite a bit Sorry Feyenoord.
